Position Overview
The Development Manager position is an exciting opportunity to join the Single-Family BTO team. The Development Manager will act as the IT Lead supporting Single-Family Sales & Marketing business as Single-Family embarks on a multi-year Digital Transformation program. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and fast paced environment and provides an opportunity to drive technology solutions delivery while providing thought leadership. The Development Manager will be responsible for establishing and leading cross-functional strategic business initiatives across the Single-Family Sales & Marketing organization. The Development Manager will lead a variety of projects in support of the digital transformation for Single-Family including delivering new capabilities and services, systems integration, process reengineering. The projects will range in complexity and the manager will be responsible for planning and execution from developing the business case to project close-out. The manager will manage the IT delivery team as well as the business relationship for the portfolio of projects. This includes management of portfolio scope, schedule, budget, quality, risks and issues, impact on systems, and dependencies to other IT Business Units within the company. Strong quantitative, analytic and project management skills are required.
Responsibilities Include
• Single accountable party for defining, planning, orchestrating, and delivering given initiatives.
• Ensures end results are of the highest quality with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit.
• Directs large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents and matrixed partners.
• Accountable for one or more initiatives including business, operational, and IT deliverables.
• Directly manages all aspects of the project lifecycle and works with the internal team and matrixed IT partners to oversee all SDLC phases as well as iterations of an Agile project.
• Rigorously manages scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.
• Validates financial forecasts and provides on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures.
• Develops communication plans and effectively communicates in both verbal (e.g. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (status reports, change requests) form.
• Serves as a subject matter expert in routinely briefing key stakeholders on different aspects of assigned initiatives.
• Represents the project in various project governance and inter-department forums.
• Develops the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts.
• Accurately assesses, manages, and reports risks and issues.
• Publishes periodic project status reports.
• Proposes recommendations and adjustments to the team and portfolio delivery.
Qualifications
• Typically has a minimum 8 - 10 years related experience.
• Bachelor Degree from an accredited university with coursework in Business, Information Technology, or Engineering.
• Project Management Professional (PMP).
• Experience managing complex software development projects from capability ideation to it realization
• Thrives in an environment with changing priorities and ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively.
• Strong influencing skills, with sound business and technical acumen.
• Experience with stakeholder management.
• Exemplary project management and people management skills.
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management and SDLC methodologies and tools.
• Able to navigate through a large corporate environment and ensure appropriate processes are met.
Preferred Skills
• Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with tact; execute with limited information and ambiguity.
• Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally. Strong presentation skills.
• Expert level in creating and managing to detailed Project schedules.
• Ability to remove barriers and enable teams to complete their objectives.
• Demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering complex projects.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
• Masters Degree or MBA from an accredited university with coursework in Business, Information Technology, or Engineering
• Training or experience using Planview.
