Minimum Requirements

Minimum Experience: Eight (8)+ years of job specific work experience with demonstrated professional growth and achievement in an organization of comparable size, business diversity, scope and complexity
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Considered technically competent in Commercial Banking; department SME
• Ability to work comfortably and effectively with senior management
• Demonstrates sales leadership with ability to motivate multiple direct reports
• Experience independently sourcing new business and the most complex businesses
• Ability to develop advanced approaches to resolve critical technical or business problems
• Experience independently managing critical customer relationships and managing difficult credit situations

Job Description
Job Summary:
Manages a team of Commercial Bankers to develop customer relationships with commercial clients in the $2.5MM to $35MM market segment in a small market with less than $500MM in assets. Directs the activity of the group to ensure measurable contributions to growth and profitability of the bank by providing loans, growing deposits, and promoting other financial services through either direct or cross-selling efforts with Retail, Corporate, FMS and CRE prospects. The Commercial Banking Manager is a producer/manager and carries an individual portfolio in addition to managing from two to ten direct reports.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Accountable for a Commercial Banking team's success, including profitability, sales, customer service and staff development. Ensures that the division's Commercial Banking line of business is aligned with the corporate strategy.
• Delivers goals for all sales metrics and sales activities to drive the expected results; monitors the achievement of goals by individual Commercial Bankers, and holds team members accountable for performance.
• Drives performance of team through established organizational sales management processes, which include: conducting business forwarding sales meetings; keeping team members informed and abreast of results and operational components; providing scorecard focus and direction; conducting joint calls; coaching for top-line performance; and establishing partnerships with other lines of business to encourage cross selling across multiple channels.
• Makes loan decisions within authorized limits or makes recommendations to a senior executive or Regional Credit Officer (RCO). Monitors outstanding loans and the overall portfolio. Partners with credit and other specialty partners when the size or the complexity of the credit dictates that involvement.
• Maintains close contact with the commercial credit center; identifies issues and works together with credit to resolve. Works with credit managers to direct activities of Field Credit Analyst (FCA) and provide performance feedback.
• Protects the assets of the bank by aggressively managing credit quality and minimizing losses.
• Regularly interacts with senior management and customers. Interactions may require negotiation of extremely difficult matters to influence actions, purchases, or acceptance of alternative solutions.
• Partners with the Retail Banking Manager to ensure strong partnerships are being established and business services are being delivered by the appropriate channel. Encourages and provides guidance in appropriate business development activities by Branch Managers. Assists the branches with expertise for more complex product and service needs of the customer.
• Represents Synovus within the community by actively serving in community organizations, participating in local chamber of commerce and other related leadership activities.
• Works on complex projects and issues; contributes to the development of company concepts and principles.
• Manages the day-to-day activities of the Commercial Banking Team. Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the team, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, discipline of employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Works with Human Resources Department to resolve more complex employee related issues.
• Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
• Performs other related duties as required.
