Position Overview

The Director of User Experience and Design leads, conceives and conducts user research, interviews, and surveys, and translating them into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and other strategic deliverables. Creates and enhances digital interfaces like websites, apps, and software programs to make the experience more effortless and enjoyable for consumers. Helps boost customer satisfaction and build brand loyalty. Areas of focus include content, controls, visual design and development, information architecture, user research, branding and customer/technical support. Performs user research, interviews, and surveys, and translating them into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and other strategic deliverables. Designs the overall functionality of products with iterative design testing to ensure a great user experience. Collaborates and articulates design choices and strategy in a way that's easily understood by team members and stakeholders from different global organizations.
Responsibilities
• Leads and conducts user tests to observe behavior both in-person and by using UX toolsets and metrics. Refine and tweak apps, software, websites to create a digital experience that is appealing and draws the user.
• Create innovative solutions to difficult challenges using a human-centered design methodology.
• Identify and execute research or immersion activities including contextual inquiries, interviews, focus groups, design sprints, journey mapping sessions, card sorts, UX testing, and other techniques
• Creates and implements surveys for direct customer feedback, interaction models, user flows, wireframes and user interface specifications
• Create team and business aligning deliverables including concise research documentation, personas, current / to be journey maps, workflows, storyboards, wireframes/comps, prototypes, and similar deliverables
• Make design recommendations via wireframes or comps based on expertise and conducted research and specifications of best practices to share with design teams as new projects begin.
• Manage the development, packaging, positioning and launching of new services, solutions, etc.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and/or Marketing or 8+ years of equivalent related work experience
• 10+ years marketing communications, media relations, sales and/or advertising experience.
• 5+ years User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field
Preferred:
• Life Reinsurance or Life Insurance related experience
Skills and Abilities
Required:
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Natural problem solver who will love a good challenge.
• Demonstrable experience in mobile and web-based products, projects
• Demonstrate strong user research, interaction design, requirement gathering, prototyping, and overall UX skills applied in various situations
• Strong acumen in Axure, InVision, or Sketch or similar prototyping/design tools
• Passionate about human-centered design (HCD) and User-Centered design (UCD), User Experience (UX), and Design Thinking
• Strong visual design skills and fluency in Adobe CS and other high-fidelity tools
• HTML, CSS, and JS skills are a plus
• Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and associates
• Advanced knowledge of broad business practices
• Ability to develop program strategies and marketing concepts and follow through to implementation.
• Advanced persuasion skills when working with internal/external customers to resolve issues/problems
• Advanced ability to investigate, analyze and solve complex problems/issues
• Highly advanced skills in translating business needs and problems into viable and acceptable solutions
