Department Overview
Head of US Bankcard (USBC) Credit Risk Management will have end to end Credit Risk Management responsibilities for the US Bankcard portfolio; including development and management of New account and Existing account Credit Risk strategies as well as oversight of Fraud and Collection strategies.
This person will lead creation, implementation and validation of various risk strategies utilizing risk and revenue segmentation and will ensure financial return optimization for all credit risk decisions for the US Bankcard Portfolio.
The primary accountability for this job is providing a comprehensive and diverse range of Credit Risk management expertise. As a seasoned Credit Card Risk professional, you will lead a team to investigate, create, implement and validate various Credit Risk strategies, policies and procedures using complex data, Marketing investments, Decision Expense, Risk Adjusted Revenue, Risk Adjusted Margin, NPV, ROE, etc. with limited guidance from the Unit manager. In addition, this role will be responsible for ensuring regulatory adherence and alignment across all product lines to policy, applicable laws and regulations. This role will also support all Credit Risk audit and regulatory exams for US Bankcard portfolio.
Job Description
• Ensures sound credit control by taking a pro-active approach to risk management within the risk guidelines of the bank
• Self-starter and a problem solver who can operate in a dynamic environment, who is comfortable putting into structure white space problems, give guidance on plan of action and communicate to senior management
• Relationship builder who can work with multiple stakeholders such as Product, Marketing, Independent Risk, Fair Lending, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and IT
• Successful candidate will be presenting frequently to senior management along with being the escalation point for her/his team. Therefore, strong influencing, negotiation and leadership skills are required along with strong communications skills
• Strong proficiency in various acquisitions and account management strategies such as approve/decline, limit assignment, limit increase & decrease, authorizations, payment hold and etc
• Exposure to Collections and/or Fraud strategies is a plus
• Required to demonstrate governance, control and risk management behaviors in alignment with TD policies and practices
• Performs and leads detailed analysis and interprets information to make recommendations to Senior Management on critical strategies including non –standard and ad-hoc requests as determined by management
• Leverages reports on the results of implemented strategies using all appropriate quantitative methods and MIS, and makes recommendation to increase efficiencies, reduces delinquencies and or losses and or build stronger process controls
• Ensures the timely communication of issues that are relevant to the team and encourages a good working relationship with internal and external business partners and groups
• Works with internal Audit to obtain data for the Audit Findings reports and obtain findings status from business partners
• Evaluates the ongoing effectiveness of Credit Risk strategies and policies taking into account changes in strategy, the operating environment, and regulatory requirements
• Provides oversight on issue remediation and all Credit Risk initiatives and validations to ensure accurate and prompt resolution
• Ensure alignment to all Credit Risk related Regulatory requirements and Laws
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate degree preferred
• 10+ Years of related experience
• Significant experience required in Credit Risk Management and modeling disciplines.
• Strong quantitative and statistical skills to determine sound, defensible approaches to forecasts and analyses.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in change management related to the adoption of new business processes.
• Extensive experience in organizing and presenting credit portfolio results and allowance requirements to Senior Management Committees, External Analysts, Auditors, Regulators, and Board of Directors.
• Industry analysis and presentation experience.
