Team Overview
The Data Strategy & Information Delivery Group is part of the Wealth Management Analytics & Data (A&D) Organization at Morgan Stanley. The team’s responsibility is to support Wealth Managements strategic objectives through the use and exploitation of its data and analytical assets
Position Overview
The Business Analytics Management (BAM) is a team within the Analytics & Data group, responsible for interfacing between the various businesses and the delivery teams, for any data driven needs (e.g. ad-hoc requests, dashboards, advanced analytics, reports, data quality and governance issues, data process optimization, data acquisition etc).
As a Business Analytics Manager within Wealth Management, the individual will need to demonstrate expertise in Business Management across Investment Solutions and Investment Resources as well International Wealth Management, Private Wealth Management and other product focused areas. This role will also work collaboratively with several other business lines such as Banking and Finance. The individual will develop and lead the business strategy coordinating a matrixed, virtual Analytics & Data team to deliver solutions based on business priorities. A core part of this role is relationship management and the development of strong partnerships with our internal clients is imperative.
The role requires an individual with strong data and business analysis, relationship management, project management, presentation and communication skills, who is capable of multitasking, leading teams as well as coaching and mentoring other team members while collaborating with the internal analytics functional leads, as well as senior business partners.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Interface primarily with senior members of WMIR, CMIS, IWM, OBM, PWM,
CG and other product areas to define and prioritize their data needs while
serving as primary relationship manager for the business for all analytics
needs
• Lead day to day liaison between internal Wealth Management Product areas,
technology and data delivery partners
• Service multiple Wealth Management product areas by providing them the
tools, expertise,
and support for them to understand and analyze their own data
• Oversee documentation of business requirements from the Wealth
Management product areas that will set the basis for analytics solutions from
data aggregation, modeling, visualization, and data science teams
• Agree on delivery timelines with the Wealth Management Product areas and
leverage team members, analytics functional areas, and technology to execute
against timelines
• Ensure quality of deliverables prior to delivery to the business areas by
overseeing review and sign-off on end product in collaboration with the broader
Analytics & Data team
• Own the messaging and communication to the businesses around existing
and new analytics book of work items and related prioritization
• Serve as the interface to technology on various issues
Qualifications
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record
• 10 - 12 years post-college experience, at a financial services firm as a
business or data analyst/manager
• Proven track record of managing and leading teams to high performance
• Experience with leading initiatives related to Wealth Management and
Financial Products
• Detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Proven experience developing successful partnerships with both Technology
and Business stakeholders
• Strong listening skills and verbal/written communication with ability to tailor
message to audience
• Demonstrated leadership in setting strategy and driving agenda
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects
concurrently
• Ability and experience in interacting with senior management from business,
technology, and operations
Desired Skills:
• Data Modeling Experience (SAS, Alpine, SPSS)
• Data Visualization Experience (Tableau, Qlikview, etc.)
• Experience with SQL
