This position will be with AEGON Asset Management, the organization which oversees asset management for many of Transamerica's insurance and operating companies as well as third party clients. Position Overview: This position is a key leadership role in the finance organization of AAM US. This role is responsible for ensuring that financial information is correct, issues are escalated, recommendations for profitability are brought forward and a good control environment is maintained. This position will help provide modeling for strategy. Responsible for applying accounting knowledge and judgment to complex scenarios. Appropriately summarizes and communicates information to aid in management decision making.
Responsibilities:
• Directs/reviews preparation of applicable financial statements/reports. Ensures that financial information is accurate on timely.
• Effectively manage staff to achieve performance standards, develop and motivate staff to achieve effectiveness; mentors, trains and shares high level knowledge. Ensures staff demonstrates appropriate customer service attitudes.
• Ensures accounting information and system is maintained, credible and explainable.
• Strong analytical skills are required.
• Prepares written analyses of issues to enhance the understanding of senior management. Has a deep knowledge of the asset management business.
• Works and communicates effectively with other departments to ensure business needs are met and issues are resolved for the success of the company. Ability to recommend ideas for higher profitability.
• Takes initiative to recommend and act on changes for the finance department as well as inter-departmental changes.
• Responsible for building a strong control environment and adhering to the Company's framework of internal controls.
• Completes performance appraisals and evaluates overall performance of team. Makes decisions on interviewing and selection of new employees. Sets goals and objectives for individuals and work groups. Motivates, mentors and coaches individuals, fostering a team environment.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 8 years experience, with degree and 3 years demonstrated supervisory/management experience. Advanced computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of accounting and reporting for financial services industry preferred. Effectively communicate orally and in writing, to all audiences, ability to handle multiple project by using effective project management skills. Organizational and prioritization skills, effective judgment, address employee issues on a timely basis.
Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of his/her relevant experience and other job related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
