Job Description
The primary role of this position is to manage a small group of Business Banking Relationship Managers, to develop new business, oversee, and to assist the Region/Market Manager manage the lending business for a designated geographic area.
This position sources and develops prospects, acquires new customers and strengthens the relationships with existing customers. Responsibilities include utilizing extensive knowledge of ancillary services and products to facilitate cross selling and actively participating in community and business organizations to remain highly involved in target markets.
This position works to sell and cross-sell products and services, and has significant role in deposit and loan portfolio growth.
Primary Responsibilities:
Identifies business opportunities, develops existing customer base and initiates new client relationships that are large and highly complex to meet the highest production goals.
Structures, underwrites and presents loan requests in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
Negotiates terms and loan structures with customers based on risk considerations and internal pricing parameters in a highly effective manner.
Utilizes sales expertise to build a portfolio of prospective clients and develop an extensive referral network.
Identifies problem loans and independently performs workout of problem loans.
Develops and maintains extensive knowledge of all commercial products including loans, cash management, trade service products and deposits to facilitate cross selling and enhance the customer experience.
Actively participates in networking functions and events and business and community organizations to maintain high visibility in the market and maintain strong working relationships with diverse groups to enhance the organization’s lending relationships.
Acts as a resource to junior staff members and frequently participates in their formal training. Serves as a back up to Manager, performing day-to-day responsibilities in their absence.
Exercises the usual authority of a manager concerning performance improvement plans and reviews, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations. Ensures that opportunities are afforded to subordinate professionals to develop and maintain their skills at the highest standards.
Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.
Job Requirements
College degree or equivalent work experience
7-10 years relevant experience

Excellent written, verbal, negotiation and presentation skills are needed to achieve sales objectives in a professional environment.
Excellent analytical skills are needed to underwrite and monitor loans and identify business opportunities in a highly competitive and fast paced environment.
Demonstrates high ethical standards and personal integrity to build credibility and trust and enhance the organization’s reputation in the lending community.
Maintains extensive understanding of all products/services offered in the market and keeps informed of all relevant industry trends and practices. Extensive knowledge financial statements, earnings reports and performance indicators as well as key financial concepts related to banking; loan products and lending concepts; and sales techniques.
Ability to share knowledge and skills and participate in the formal training of junior staff members. Excellent ability to coach train and motivate employees to support corporate goals and initiatives.
Excellent PC skills including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, internet and internal software.
