JOB SUMMARY:
To provide management, business development, operational oversight and technical supervision of technical and non-technical employees of the Risk Control Department in Lafayette, Louisiana. Responds to clients questions and resolves problems; provides information and coordinates activities as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directs and plans the work of staff members and has direct involvement with and/or responsibility for the hiring, coaching, developing, training, appraising and disciplinary processes for subordinates.
• Consults with clients on specific safety/loss control issues
• Prepares and conducts safety and loss prevention training courses
• Provide best-in-class account management and customer for service for Risk Control clients
• Lead implementation efforts for new clients; identify reporting needs; monitor client satisfaction
• Participate in business strategy regarding client satisfaction, retention, and growth; facilitate product and brand development
• Work with multiple service lines to enhance overall client utilization
• Participate in, and assist with maintaining, quality management activities as appropriate
• Uphold all URAC standards as defined in the organization’s policies and procedures
• Provide education, and identify resources and solutions for issues
• Receive and respond to complaints in a timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• BS / BA or Equivalent Work Experience
EXPERIENCE:
• 5 to 8 years
SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Ability to manage resources to achieve defined objectives
• Ability to supervise and manage performance of technical and non-technical employees
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Ability to plan and conduct on-site risk assessments
• Ability to analyze results of risk assessments and/or loss data and develop effective recommendations to address identified risks and control losses
• Ability to develop training curriculum and conduct effective training to employees and clients
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of the general principles of business management
• Knowledge of the general principles of effective employee supervision
• Knowledge of advanced loss control principles related to work-related injuries as well as property and 3rd party exposures
• Knowledge of loss control methods, tools and techniques particularly with respect to employee safety in a public entity or construction-related industry
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and their application to employers in California
ROUTINE DECISIONS AND FORMAL POLICY SETTING:
• Determine level and type of training needed for client initiative/programs
• Provide consulting to clients regarding exposure to risks
• Determine internal staffing and/or outside consultants needed (including number and expertise) to meet client service needs
• Determine training needs for internal staff
• Manage the performance quality of subordinates ( including performance evaluations)
• Formally responsible for making recommendations regarding policies associated with the job’s purpose and essential responsibilities.
