Responsibilities:

Do you want to utilize your supply chain management skills in the identification of risk and management of third party supplier agreements for a Fortune 500 Company this summer? An internship with Principal International Supplier Management might be right for you.
The PI Supplier Risk Management Internship is a paid full-time opportunity located in Des Moines, IA. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain real world experience in a dynamic international setting within Principal. Throughout this experience you will learn the end to end supplier management process, work internationally with all of our member companies, and work with various areas across Principal.
This position requires candidates to work 40 hours/week from May/June 2018 through August 2018 in Des Moines, Iowa.
In this internship role, you will have the opportunity to see a financial services organization’s supply chain management function at work. Potential duties/projects may include:
• Support supplier manager to fulfill supplier management plans scorecards, etc. and facilitate meetings with business partners
• Develop, solicit and consolidate supplier inventory from the member companies
• Work with member company risk and business teams to facilitate information security reviews
• Facilitate supplier management training sessions with member company personnel
• Report and audit action item follow-up with member companies
• Create and consolidate operational risk reports
• Project plan status updates on a bi-weekly basis
• Involvement with digital and innovation projects
• Create reporting that will help to create visibility of global supplier risks
• Other duties as assigned
As a Valued Intern at Principal (VIP), we have a focus on both professional and personal development. During your experience, you will interact with other interns at social events, meet and hear from some of our executive leaders.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Candidates must be working toward a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Management Information Systems or related major. Dual majors or minors in these areas are also welcome.
• At least one semester of school remaining post-internship.
• At least a 3.0 GPA.
• Must be able to work in fast-paced environment and be able to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy, be analytical, and detail-oriented.
• Must have excellent organizational, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Candidates must possess strong computer skills including experience with MS Word and Excel.
Preferred:
• Financial services industry knowledge, knowledge of sales techniques, finance, marketing and general business knowledge.
• Coursework completed in purchasing, business law, and management information systems.
• Ability to work independently, and to make quick decisions under pressure while dealing with conflicting goals and points of view.
• Experience and knowledge of supply chain management concepts.
• Knowledge and/or experience with supplier management, information technology, software, and customer service.
