A successful candidate for this position will possess experience in underwriting home equity lines of credit and loans. Additionally, the Transaction Specialist must have a high level of mortgage lending knowledge that includes Truth In Lending Act/RESPA Integrated Mortgage Disclosure regulations and HMDA requirements.
Duties for this position include: Ensure all home equity application requests are structured properly at the point of application and meet bank, federal, state and local policies, guidelines and regulations; Communicates decisions in a clear and concise manner and within prescribed service level agreements and time frames; Thoroughly document decisions in the loan origination system; Accurately prepare and deliver all regulatory disclosures including Loan Estimates (LE) are compliant with Truth In Lending Act/RESPA Integrated Mortgage Disclosure regulations to applicants within regulatory time-frames; Ensures all fees are properly disclosed; Provides support and technical assistance to other underwriters, management, loan processors, and loan closers in order to increase production, improve quality, enhance efficiency, and maintain superior customer service; Maintain a complete understanding of all bank policies and guidelines, stays current on all changes and updates to the policies and guidelines.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, some Saturdays and OT as required
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Required Experience: 3 years underwriting experience in home equity lines of credit and/or loans or first mortgage residential real estate loans (no FHA/VA designations required). Consideration will be given candidates with 3+ years first mortgage processing experience in real estate secured loans.
Skills needed:
• Proficient knowledge of mortgage industry guidelines and regulation
• Knowledge of FCRA, ECOA, Reg Z, HMDA, Truth In Lending Act/RESPA Integrated Mortgage Disclosure regulations
• Ability to work independently while managing and meeting required turn-time deadlines
• Multi-tasked, detailed, and organized orientation
• Professional and articulate verbal and written communication skills
• Solid customer service skills
• Experience using Encompass Loan Origination System
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Access
