Description
The Senior Review Appraiser is responsible for the engagement and review of appraisal reports for the Bank’s real estate secured loans and related supporting functions. This position works to minimize risk by conducting valuation research, analysis and providing guidance and recommendations to lending staff and credit risk.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinates the ordering of appraisal reports for commercial and residential real estate in line with internal appraisal selection process and appraisers’ qualifications.
Develops scope of work for appraisals bids and provides relationship manager with appropriate recommendations.
Reviews the quality and accuracy of appraisal reports to ensure compliance with FIRREA, USPAP and Bank policy.
Coordinates the resolution for any appraisal deficiencies with vendors and request revisions, as well as, being a liaison between relationship manager and appraiser regarding any appraisal disputes.
Monitors regulatory standards and industry guidelines for any changes that impact the real estate valuation process; assists with updating related internal training modules, policies, procedural manuals, publications and document libraries.
Assists with relationship manager training on real estate appraisal policy compliance and offers guidance on requirements for specific transactions and situations.
Being knowledgeable of economic, market, and industry changes, and assist in developing trend reports provided to upper management.
May complete internal real estate market evaluations on commercial or residential properties where an appraisal report is not required.
Provide support to the department on additional responsibilities as directed.
Competencies Required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
• Preferred knowledge of cash flow software applications such as Argus.
• Ability to research, read, and interpret general real estate market data and appraisal reports; working knowledge of USPAP.
Strong analytical and research skills; developed technical writing ability.
Proven ability to prioritize and manage workload and to instill a sense of urgency in others as necessary to meet deadlines and quality standards.
Excellent communication skills with an ability to effectively interact with people who possess varying levels of understanding on applicable topics.
Familiarity with environmental assessment reports is a plus.
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in real estate, accounting, finance, business, economics or related field and minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
• Experience working at a financial institution is preferred.
• State Certification for General Real Estate Appraiser is preferred.

Travel
• This position requires up to 10% travel.
Working Conditions
• Conditions vary from office to field environments. Office environment involves lifting no more than ten pounds, sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, moving, or standing for brief periods, and occasionally lifting and carrying articles like files, ledgers, folders, etc. Field environment may involve climbing ladders and stairs, working in extremes of heat and cold, walking, bending, crawling, and negotiating uneven terrain, restrictive spaces and fixed entry points, and working in hazardous, dusty or noisy areas.
