Job Summary
Individual contributor responsible for conducting field audits of commercial damage estimates performed by staff adjusters, independent adjusters or external business partners. A Re-inspector ensures quality property repair estimates and valuation by focusing on targeted areas to continuously improve. Validates reported findings and provides objective subject matter expert (SME) knowledge to Property Claims. This position contributes to increased accuracy of loss estimates as well as enhances ability to identify fraudulent activity. Collaboration with claim professionals to achieve the above listed items is critical.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1.Conduct field re-inspections of damaged properties involved in insurance claims to ensure adjusters have properly estimated physical damage including, but not limited to, scope, quality, materials, measurements and proper repair method.
2.Conducts claim file reviews of estimates used to settle losses and discusses with claim adjusters/leadership, as needed, to address issues and concerns with the appropriate sense of urgency.
3.This position requires the ability to travel to other offices and/or locations and be available for Catastrophe (CAT) deployment. This includes travel on short notice and may be for periods in excess of two consecutive weeks.
4.Provide training and coaching in the field and in the classroom
5.Reports out to claim leadership and claim professionals on actual performance in comparison to performance expectations, either in an individual or group setting.
6.Aggregates field re-inspection and claim file review results into scorecards for performance tracking metrics.
7.Partners with Internal Audit and Special Investigations Unit to recognize and uncover fraudulent activity on part of staff adjusters, independent adjusters or contractors.
8.Partners with Vendor Management (cVMO) to take action regarding poor performing vendors and/or contractors.
9.Analyzes re-inspection findings to make recommendations for improvements in policy, practice and procedures as well as enhancements to training.
10.Continuously learns to broaden and deepen knowledge of technical requirements, construction techniques, building codes, regulations and other matters.
11.Creates a continuous improvement culture, by identifying and recognizing trends realized through re-inspection findings.
12.Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Advanced technical and estimating expertise, claims resolution skill and knowledge of insurance and claims principles, practices and procedures.
2. Advanced knowledge of commercial structure estimating and building reconstruction, plus experience with the Xactimate application for writing estimates.
3. Excellent communication, decision making and feedback skills. Has the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners and facilitate learning and development of staff.
4. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize work.
5. Must be able to travel to visit loss sites and perform inspections in the field 50-75% of the time.
6. Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues.
7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
2. Typically a minimum of eight years of related work experience.
