Position Description
The primary objective of the Client Information Strategy team at PIMCO is to partner with and enable our client-facing professionals to align our energies and resources to relationships and activities which present the greatest opportunity for growth and success. To achieve this objective we plan and execute what we call the “client information value chain”. This information value chain encompasses information acquisition, data quality management processes, data modeling, application user experience, reporting, business intelligence, and the generation of insights from advanced analytics.
To deliver on this mission we are building a team with skills spanning asset management domain expertise; technical skills for querying, coding and data preparation; and applied mathematical skills. Everyone on the team is also expected to have basic business analyst and project management skills, as well as strong communication skills. Responsibilities
A Client Information Strategy Data Science Practitioner enables quantitative decision-making for client-facing business leaders and improves campaign effectiveness through data preparation, analysis, and a variety of data mining techniques. The role also entails analysis and visualization of campaign results with statistical techniques. The ideal candidate will contribute to projects using SQL, Python, Jupyter, Spark and applicable applications in a Hadoop environment to describe a story from the data. Additional responsibilities include:
• Research and develop client profiling and develop insights from new datasets.
• Understand business goals and requirements to derive insights from data.
• Code prototype model solutions to clarify business requirements and explore approach options.
• Measure the effectiveness of sales and marketing campaigns.
• Ability to change direction quickly based on findings.
• Troubleshoot and assess impact of erroneous data, suggest solutions to correct the root cause.
• Develop ad-hoc reports as necessary.
Position Requirements
• Prepares data and codes models for data analysis, predictive analytics, machine learning and clustering using Python and SQL.
• Comfortable exploring and suggesting new applicable technologies and analytical methods.
• Proactively curious, self-sufficient professional able to convey complex ideas and datasets to actionable uses for CRM, reporting, and business analytics.
• Bachelor degree in a business-, mathematics-, or technology-related field of study, Master degree preferred.
• A high technical aptitude including proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts, Python, Jupyter and Excel.
• Attention to detail and quality with an ability to keep larger goals in mind.
• Innovative thinking skills focused on data and process for complex needs.
• Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating and communicating well within a diverse group.
Additional Desired Skills
• Familiarity with a wide variety of Python libraries for data preparation, visualization and model coding.
• Familiarity with distributed processing using Spark and Hadoop.
• Experience in a broker/dealer or asset management firm
• Experience of advanced analytics in a sales and marketing context.
