JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assessing the credit quality of the loan portfolio through the review of individual loans and cultivation of an intimate knowledge of all management information available regarding the portfolio as a whole and various aspects thereof by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs reviews on large commercial relationships, reporting results and making recommendations to improve credit quality to include, but is not limited to, documentation, compliance with loan policy and procedures, credit and underwriting and interfaces with the lender on their responses
Proficiently extracts and reviews samples of various segments of the portfolio and analyzes results to reach conclusions regarding asset quality of the portfolio as a whole and/or various aspects thereof
Assembles raw loan portfolio data from diverse sources into meaningful reporting information for use in quantifying and assessing asset quality of the portfolio as a whole and various segments and/or aspects of the portfolio
Informs supervisor of discrepancies in the perceived risk ratings as compared to the current risk rating assigned to the loan/relationship
Secondary Duties
Prepares and distributes formal reports derived from the review and analysis of information obtained presenting both quantitative and qualitative evaluations of the asset quality of the overall portfolio and various segments and or aspects of the portfolio and offering recommendations to effect improvement.
Assists the Credit Review Manager in gathering information, preparing reports, completing special projects, etc.
Tracks exceptions noted in reviews.
Serve as a member of the Due Diligence team for future acquisitions, if called upon.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Senior Staff members are responsible for their assigned review teams. This includes managing workflow, evaluating performance, and providing coaching when necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & KNOWLEDGE:
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
• Seven years related experience, five years of which in a review capacity
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing using the English language
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
• Ability to learn or knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint
• Ability to learn or knowledge of Outlook email program
• Senior Reviewers should have one of the following: BAI Loan Review Certification, RMA Credit Risk Certification, CPA Certification, or equivalent professional certification. In addition, a graduate of Banking School would meet the requirements.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel such as using a computer mouse or writing and talk or hear in person or on the telephone with other employees, supervisors and in some cases the general public and board of directors. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
