Under moderate supervision, responsible for accurately rating/coding a range of insurance policies and/or auditing transactions of varying complexity in a single line of business. Exercises initiative and independent judgment and solves problems of limited scope and complexity.
Responsibilities:
• Reviews, Interprets, and utilizes quoting, issuance and premium audit instructions to process various policy and audit transactions in a single line of business in various market segments.
• Communicates with internal stakeholders in a professional manner when additional information is needed.
• Applies and interprets Bureau and Company rating standard work, supplements, and procedural bulletins and all pertinent system applications needed to issue transactions.
• Computes premium charges using rating manuals, tools, or systems. As needed, may manually calculate premium using variables such as experience modifications. May also manually calculate state assessments and surcharges. Prepare and/or code statistical data.
• Actively participates in continuous improvement by fully engaging in daily huddles, generating suggestions, following appropriate procedures and standard work, participating in root cause problem solving activities, and utilizing continuous improvement tools to support the work of the team.
• As requested, may answer questions and provide guidance to other raters.
Depending on experience this position can be a Business Rater or Senior Business Rater.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent training
• Minimum of 6 months of general office and/or customer service related experience.
• Solid math and problem solving skills, as well as an ability to follow detailed processing instructions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to successfully work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).
