Our Individual Life segment manufactures and distributes variable life, term life and universal life insurance products, primarily to the U.S. mass middle, mass affluent and affluent markets.
Part of Product Solutions in the Individual Life Insurance organization, the Contracts Director is responsible for leading the team in the planning and execution of key business objectives relating to contract development, filing, and implementation support for new, revised and re-priced products and benefits and other regulatory requirements.
This position can be based in Newark, NJ or Hartford, CT.
Responsibilities:
• End-to-end responsibility for contract development, filing, implementation support, due diligence and ready to sell updates.
• Research, analysis, and development of contracts forms that comply with applicable laws and regulations and meet the product design and marketing needs.
• Coordination with key business partners in the product, actuarial, and legal areas to ensure that contracts and related documents are complete and accurate and to secure required sign-offs.
• Oversight in the preparation and review of filings and responses to questions/objections from regulators.
• Working with the development and testing teams and other business partners to support product implementation plans.
• Supervision and support for talent management and development.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of previous contract drafting, filing and/or product development experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership position with responsibilities in talent management and development.
• Detailed knowledge of individual life insurance products and knowledge of regulatory requirements and related industry standards is strongly preferred.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills; ability to understand, explain and write complex technical material.
• Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills are required.
• Results-oriented with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work as an independent contributor and as part of a team with minimal direction and oversight.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals with diverse backgrounds and abilities both within the team and with key business partners.
• Demonstrated learning ability and attention to personal growth and development.
• Strong technical skills with proficiency in using MS Word and Excel and Adobe software.
