Position Overview
US Sales at Legg Mason is seeking a professional, highly qualified in project management skills to support the Director of Retail Sales and Wealth Management Strategic Projects and Wealth Management Channel.
The candidate will be expected to partner with all functional areas of the organization including Sales Management, Field Sales, Sales Analytics, National Accounts, Competitive Intelligence, Product, Marketing and Training to develop and project manage initiatives of importance to US Sales and Strategic Accounts.
The candidate will be expected to work independently, lead key projects, maintain the highest standard of quality, exercise excellent judgment and decision-making skills, and escalate matters as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to
Project Management - Strategic Initiatives: Management, Execution, Communication and Analysis:
• Develop detailed initiative plans that include business opportunity, objectives, goals, target audience segmentation, campaign elements/activity and owners. Plans should reflect agreed upon strategic direction, be measurable, within budget, and relevant to the needs of the defined target audience.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders from all parts of the organization to define initiative specifications, requirements and to prioritize delivery.
• Oversee the execution of initiative plans by leading project meetings with task owners.
• Manage the overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of each initiative by developing and maintaining detailed project plan dashboards.
• Develop communications and presentations in support of strategic initiatives including representing the initiative at management meetings.
• Coordinate branch travel and roadshow activity specific to initiatives including scheduling, managing calendar, resolving schedule conflicts and effectively communicating with sales and investment managers.
• Analyze each initiative upon completion and document learning. Track results, in collaboration with Sales Analytics team and apply conclusions to future initiatives.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the financial services industry, competitive marketplace and the retail distribution model and sales process to utilize that knowledge to inform plan development.
Project Management - Strategic Accounts:
• Collaborate with Strategic Account Manager(s) to build strategy presentations for existing relationships and new business opportunities.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly required deliverables for clients in a timely manner.
• Assist Strategic Account Manager(s) in meeting preparation.
• Assist in the coordination of client events, due diligence meetings and industry conferences.
• Develop client relationships by providing back-up support for Strategic Account Manager(s) and serving as primary point of contact for ad hoc inquiries.
Business Management:
• Assist in the support of management reports and decks such as quarterly business reviews, business plans and strategy updates.
• Maintain supervisory procedures in coordination with department managers.
Ideal Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• 5-years industry experience preferred.
• Superb project management, analytical, organizational, and execution skills.
• Strategic thinker with keen attention to tactical details and high standard of excellence.
• Demonstrated thought and people leadership skills.
• Proven effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to manage multiple, multi-faceted projects concurrently.
• Team player: Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments and organizational levels, including Senior Management.
• Self-directed, self-starter: Must be comfortable with establishing objectives, then working independently to achieve them, seeking manager’s input as needed.
