Job Description
Corporate Relations (CR) plays a vital role in Allstate’s success. We create strategic communications that help all of our audiences better understand our business priorities and our values. We provide leaders, employees, Allstate agency owners and financial specialists with tools that help drive exceptional value for customers. We drive business results through:

Internship Overview:
This internship will provide the opportunity to deepen communications skills while learning about the business of life insurance and retirement planning. The intern will complete project work, write articles and online content for agency owners and financial specialists, and participate in coordinating and executing events for employees and the agency force.
We’re looking for high energy, creative thinkers who can help us create an emotional connection with our audiences through storytelling, videos, infographics and more.
Candidates should have a deep interest and general understanding of communications and public relations with demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to assume responsibility, and prioritize their work. Additional skills and experience include the following:
• Ability to develop a basic tactical plan with focus on timeline and audience needs
• Prior agency or corporate public relations internship experience is ideal
• Previous academic, extracurricular and/or work experience related to public relations is strongly preferred
Writing: Assist in creating internal and external communications that are aligned with corporate priorities and messaging. Assist in developing creative and visual messaging to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
Building Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with CR team members and colleagues in other departments.
Project Management/Administrative: Actively participate in project meetings from inception to delivery to understand deliverables, audience, timing, expected outcomes and goals.
Job Qualifications
Candidates should have a deep interest and general understanding of communications and public relations, demonstrate excellent oral and excellent written communication skills, the ability to assume responsibility, prioritize their work, and think creatively. In addition the ideal candidate will possess the following:
• Ability to organize and manage multiple work streams in a fast-paced work environment.
• Experience using social media tools in a school or corporate environment, specifically creating a social media campaigns.
• Ability to work well with business professionals of varying backgrounds, talents and management techniques.
• Capacity to process detailed information quickly and synthesize into communication tactics that resonate with and engage stakeholders.
• Knowledge of public relations trends and best practices preferred.
• Previous academic, extracurricular and/or work experience related to public relations is a preferred
Education:
We prefer candidates who are upper-level undergraduate students majoring in Journalism, English, Strategic Communications or Communications with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or first year graduate students.
The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
