The Network & Counterparty Relationship Management (NCRM) group is responsible for managing Brown Brothers Harriman’s network of subcustodians and correspondent bank relationships for cash and securities in over 90 markets, and providing value to both external and internal clients through market expertise and delivery of market information. The group is comprised of separate Bank Relationship Management, Market Information, Direct Client Consultancy and Risk and Compliance teams. The group is located globally, in Boston, New York and Hong Kong.
The Network Regional Markets Manager leads a team of analysts who are responsible for communication of market and market practice information to our internal and external clients. Through ownership of BBH’s market risk products (including, Central Depository Handbook (CDH), Global updates (GUPs), Market Practice Reports (MPRs), and Life of a Trade Products (LoT)), the Network Markets team will ensure timely communication of market information. The Markets team engages directly with the local banks and other local market participants to ensure that our client products and servicing reflects a deep understanding of the markets in our global custody network.
In this role, the manager supports the team in the analysis of market practices and risk considerations, and the timely and accurate preparation and delivery of market intelligence products both written and orally. This role requires strong analytical, written and oral communication skills, and there is a particular emphasis on the analysis of information related to market practices and regulatory changes and the production of insightful communications to external clients. The Network Markets Manager is responsible for coordination with internal groups (including Service Delivery, product teams, Relationship Management, Compliance, and Legal) to ensure that our market insights appropriately reflect an understanding of markets, clients, BBH operating models, etc. The manager will also work closely with the Network Relationship Management team in ensuring that through our bank relationships (and on-going due diligence process) we develop a strong understanding of potential market risks and appropriately leverage our relationships and to assist in local lobbying and advocacy efforts for foreign investors.

Key responsibilities include:
• Manage the team in the execution of our core responsibility to maintain BBH Market Risk products and ensure that they provide accurate and timely communication of market risks to our internal and external clients.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of the team through guidance in the analysis of market developments or market practice and the identification of overall impact and risk considerations.
• Support team in their annual market due diligence requirement which involves the identification of risk considerations for review and discussion, and the update to BBH’s market intelligence products published to BBH World View.
• Assist team in the analysis of market changes and preparation of thoughtful written communications to demonstrate our breadth of knowledge and expertise and ensure distribution to clients in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with internal departments in the development of operational workflows and assessment of operational risk considerations.
• Foster a culture within the team to develop strong knowledge of local market practices, regulations and risk considerations for the market in the team’s assigned region(s)
• Cultivate an environment of market advocacy and lobbying on behalf of BBH and its clients related to existing and/or new risks due to a market development to mitigate risks and introduce industry best practices.
• Participate in internal working groups as a markets specialist and liaison to external banks, market infrastructure, and industry groups.
• Contribute to the annual due diligence (oversight & monitoring) by working closely with the Network teams to ensure that our bank oversight process reflect a deep understanding of the local market risks and opportunities.
• Ensure that all market products are updated and maintained in accordance with department best practice.
• Act in an “Approver” capacity in the distribution of market related client communications.
• Facilitate the creation of market products that are aligned with client requirements and contribute to the client experience. Ensure the timely and accurate response to client inquiries, ensuring that we clearly communicate information relating to: securities markets, local foreign exchange markets, cash clearing regulations and payment systems in formulating response to client inquiries.
• Contribute to the Client Experience by seeking out opportunities to demonstrate Network Management’s expertise on market practices or upcoming market developments through the publication of informational products, and/or conducting insight led client meetings, conference calls and/or presentations (for both internal and external clients).
• Through the delivery of internal Market Focus presentations and market overviews, participation in working groups, as well as informal and formal presentation forms, educate our internal serving groups on market practices and risk considerations.
• Lead team in the tracking and management of market developments, events or product launches to ensure timely notification to external clients and internal business lines, and coordination of follow ups to assist in service delivery requirements. Provide management oversight in helping the team meet the market product deliverables.
• Leverage our Network tools to ensure ownership and accountability for assigned markets and overall success of the department.
• Provide guidance to team to ensure appropriate assessment, communication and escalation of market changes that require changes in processes and workflow and/or introduce a change in the risk profile to internal groups;
• Actively manage direct reports by establishing clear and challenging performance goals and standards, providing ongoing feedback and conducting annual performance appraisals.
• Support talent development efforts for Network Markets Team and participate in development of the department through training and inclusion exercises.
• Act as a positive role model and mentor for the Network team.
• Act as a Network escalation point for internal business lines on market and subcustodian related matters.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, finance or English
• Strong knowledge and experience in global securities services, including knowledge of securities market activities, products and market infrastructure entities
• Global Custody experience
• Strong analytical skills as well as written and verbal communication skills,
• Solid custody or transaction banking background and the ability to draw connections between market regulation and operational processes.
• Strong background and experience in risk management, compliance and control practices (operational and market based)
• Global mindset
• Prior supervisory experience
• Leader that collaborates well in a global team environment to ensure department and firm success.
• Some travel required.
