Job Description
The OppenheimerFunds Summer Internship Program targets rising seniors and graduate students entering final semester/year of academic study. Interns contribute to impactful projects while developing a robust understanding of asset management and team strategy/objectives.
Job Purpose:
The Enterprise Risk Management team provides independent direction and oversight to the management of operational, regulatory, legal, technology, financial and strategic risks across the organization through the firm’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework, which defines the culture, capabilities, and practices that are integrated with the firm’s strategy and execution that OppenheimerFunds relies on to manage risks to the firm’s business objectives and the creation, preservation and realization of value. This function includes but is not limited to the development and coordination of regular measurements and assessments of these risks, and furthering the implementation of our operational and financial risk management strategies as well as playing a key role in ensuring the effectiveness of risk management governance committees.
The intern will work with the Enterprise Risk Team in assessing, analyzing and monitoring a broad range of operational, financial, legal, regulatory, technology, and strategic risks and partnering with lines of business to integrate risk management into day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
• Working with Enterprise Risk Analysts in assessment and analysis of operational risks:
• Risk assessment of new products and operational processes, risk assessment of the integration of new businesses post acquisition
• Analysis of operational risk events including operational errors and losses to identify root causes, trends, and possible options for risk mitigation and impact minimization
• Analysis and monitoring of risk indicators associated with key operational risks
Qualifications
• Rising senior or grad student entering final year of study in Finance, Risk Management, Statistics and/or a similar analytical – quantitative area of study.
• Understanding and knowledge of the financial services industry, investments and trading, financial instruments and similar areas of knowledge are considered a significant plus.
• Proven skills in modeling and analytics, advanced knowledge of Excel
• Advanced written communication skill.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and succinctly
• Adept at handling multiple concurrent assignments with hard deliverables in an environment of rapidly changing priorities
• Self-structured, ability to work independently while handling multiple assignments
• Understanding of the Risk Management discipline, including key principles of proactive risk management: identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, mitigation and the integration of risk management into business activities
