This position will be with AEGON Asset Management, the organization which oversees asset management for many of Transamerica's insurance and operating companies as well as third party clients. AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC manages commercial real estate, commercial mortgage loans and other real estate related investments. AEGONUSA Investment Management, LLC, is a registered investment adviser that manages fixed income assets, including public bonds, private placements, derivatives and alternative investments.
Position Overview: Manage the due diligence closing process for commercial and/or agricultural mortgage loan investments.
Responsibilities:
• Working independently and under the supervision of a mentor, as necessary:
◦ Serve as project manager in facilitating and driving the closing process for large and/or complex commercial loans located throughout the United States.
◦ Coordinate and review legal due diligence to identify and evaluate unforeseen risks of loan default or of adverse effects on property value.
◦ Work closely with Commercial Loan Officers, internal and external Legal Counsel, Borrowers, Borrowers Legal Counsel, Mortgage Bankers, Title Officer, Surveyor, and various internal groups located throughout the United States.
◦ Assure compliance with investment regulatory requirements and with company policy on wiring of funds.
◦ Insure all relevant documentation has been secured for the closing of the transactions including any post-closing items to satisfy audit & regulatory requirements.
◦ Lead regular verbal progress meetings and send written communication to the closing teams.
◦ Conduct legal due diligence to identify and evaluate unforeseen risks of loan default or of adverse effects on property value
◦ Facilitate resolution of any problems that arise with both internal/external customers.
◦ Assure compliance with investment regulatory requirements and with company policy.
• May review, analyze, and comment on leases, estoppel certificates, and Subordination, Nondisturbance and Attornment Agreements
• Contribute to the creation of legal department practices and policies relating to loan closings.
• Maintain positive customer relationships to enhance prospect of repeat business.
• May be requested to cross-train within the legal department.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum Two year degree or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to learn other software programs.
• Analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
• A strong sense of accountability with a drive for results.
• Ability to set and organize competing priorities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with time-sensitive deadlines.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Ability to work cooperatively in teams and facilitate meetings.
• Ability to be flexible in work demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Four-year degree.
• Relevant experience as a paralegal, project management, or in commercial real estate.
• Experience as a commercial loan closer for a financial institution or as a commercial real estate paralegal for a law firm is ideal.
Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of his/her relevant experience and other job related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
