Purpose of Job
We are currently seeking talented Director, Business Strategy & Planning for our San Antonio, TX facility.
Holds accountability to USAA Executive Management to create, communicate, execute and sustain the strategic business plan. Maintains business plan alignment to USAA Strategy and the Transformation Plan. Responsible for conducting business plan reviews. Guides industry and competitive analysis to support business plan. Manages a small, highly skilled team of employees responsible for supporting the development and communication of business plans.
Job Requirements
• Facilitates, influences, collaborates and establishes accountability across senior leadership for strategic direction, planning and action.
• Drives Business Intelligence by identifying intelligence gaps, profiling dynamic markets, and conducting competitor analyses.
• Assesses and interprets industry trends, market size and structure.
• Manages the planning process and creates dynamic planning systems.
• Develops, maintains and aligns business process and framework to USAA strategy process and framework.
• Identifies and implements specific tools including, but not limited to, scenario planning, market & customer segmentation, business unit plan & review, analyses of gaps, profitability, and portfolio and operations processes.
• Develops strong relationships with partners at all levels, and helps align planning and budgeting processes.
• Conducts business strategy reviews to set the business/CoSA growth strategy and assesses progress of strategy achievement
• Works with executive council member(s) and/or senior executives to refine strategic foundations and develop short and long-term strategic business goals and vision, pursuing business model innovation, encouraging high-level strategic thinking, and supporting development of business-unit and functional strategies.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• 8 or more years related industry experience
• 3 or more years leadership experience.
• Operations, Product Management and/or business planning experience
• Demonstrated business acumen in financial services and a proven ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation skills.

Preferred
• 2+ years experience leading large scale transformations including but not limited to aligning organizational structure to strategy, reviewing systems, processes, skills to determine how to best organize the work to enhance efficiency and coordination, diagnosing complex business problems that require broad PPTI solutions
• 3+ years leadership experience with ability to perform all people management functions and demonstrated ability to lead matrixed teams, serve as a mentor, trainer, coach, and technical leader in support of Experience & Process Management leaning into Process Excellence methodologies, tools and techniques.
• Proven ability to think strategically and plan broadly, manage risks, and translate strategies into actionable plans.
• Exhibit leadership, sound judgement, a team-based collaborative interpersonal style, effective with all levels of employees in diverse job roles. High emotional intelligence and ability to thrive with minimal direction and supervision in an ambiguous and constantly changing work environment while thinking and acting appropriately under pressure, considerable experience in the design and delivery of organization wide change management programs.
• Excellent self-management skills, planning and execution skills, driven to produce on time with high quality and ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of process management discipline and Agile principles (green belt or SAFE certifications)
• Ability to act as an ambassador of Disciplined Execution by promoting the purpose, vision, and governing the execution.

***Selected candidates will attend and complete the Management Development School program in San Antonio, TX, during their first six months in position.***
