Working directly with and reporting to the Director, Strategy, Finance and Risk within the Strategy & Business Management team for Global I&CB, this intense and diverse role is responsible for a high level of professional services for strategic, analytical and operational support for the Global I&CB business. The incumbent would partner with the Director to develop, execute against and measure the success of the Global I&CB strategy and strategic initiatives; to develop the financial plan for the business and track performance at weekly, monthly and quarterly intervals in conjunction with I&CB CFO and Finance team; and to lead the business efforts around risk and regulatory activities in conjunction with the 1st and 2nd line Op Risk, Compliance and other teams. The role requires an individual who has superior analytical capabilities grounded in strong quantitative judgment, is an effective communicator, works as a team player, and possesses the highest level of integrity. The candidate must be very adept at interpersonal dynamics in managing matters that are both sensitive and confidential.
This role includes accountabilities for supporting, anticipating and managing both short and long term objectives and maintaining a strong understanding of the strategic objectives of Global I&CB. The role also requires liaising with key internal stakeholders across a variety of functions and levels, including finance, Op Risk, the Business Unit Compliance team, OCOO groups such as the BMO CM Strategy & Business Management team.
This position supports the implementation of key programs and/or initiatives, while establishing and developing strong relationships at all levels across the organization to support the effective execution on the businesses’ mandate.

Strategy and Operational Support
• Through the annual planning process, collaborate with the Director, Strategy, Finance and Risk, the I&CB Global Management Committee (GMC), the Strategy & Business Management team, and across other LOBs as required to plan/design and update the Global I&CB and individual LOB strategies in support of the BMO Capital Markets CEO Strategy process
• Plan/design and develop integrated confidential reports and updates on key Global I&CB performance objectives (both financial and non-financial) and strategic initiatives as required to review with the Co-Heads of Global I&CB, the I&CB GMC, Executive Committee and CEO direct reports as required
• Support the Director to develop, articulate and implement strategic plans and initiatives on an ongoing basis; take the lead in analyzing and preparing business cases for new initiatives with a particular (but not exclusive) focus on U.S. strategic initiatives
• Update operating metrics and milestones including the identification of potential areas of opportunity or concern for the Global I&CB business or for specific areas within I&CB
• Identify, support and track key issues relating to both financial and operational metrics for BMO Operating Committee and Executive Committees as applicable including internal (BMO CM Operating Metrics & Strategic Initiatives) and corporate trackers
• Lead/support special projects as requested by the Co-Heads of Global I&CB, the I&CB GMC, or the Managing Director, Strategy & Business Management Global I&CB in partnership with the Strategy & Business Management team
Financials and Key Metrics
• Act as a key interface with Finance for day to day issues, including structural and financial integrity of management reporting, the financial plan and financial forecast, business commentary and informational requirements, and analyses
• Prepare quarterly business commentary and Performance Committee slides for Global I&CB
• Review and help prepare the forecast, commentary, and ad hoc analyses for Performance Monitor in partnership with Finance
• Participate in writing the quarterly commentary of results for Global I&CB and for I&CB U.S. including analysis of our competitive position in Canada and the U.S.
• Work with the Director and with Finance to develop the five year financial plan for the Global I&CB business as part of the annual planning process, including financial analysis of key growth initiatives, review of direct expenses and cross-charges, etc.
• Lead/support financial initiatives as required that may include cross-border revenue tracking, revenue sharing with other parts of BMO CM and FG, sector financials, etc. in addition to delivering other ad hoc analysis and reports as requested by the Director
Business Delivery and Execution
• Act as a key point of contact for Global Leadership Committee meetings; partner with the Director and GMC to set the agenda and develop materials for these quarterly meetings
• Manage the annual Business Unit Review (BUR) process for Global I&CB and the summary of themes and resource requirements as input to the overall Capital Markets and BMO FG planning process
• Drive reviews of strategic and business initiatives when issues and/or opportunities arise and provide recommendations on the optimal path forward
Qualifications
• Graduate degree, preferably a Master’s of Business Administration, or a minimum of a 4-year undergraduate degree with a focus on Business, Economics, Finance/Accounting
• 6+ years of relevant business experience, preferably in Capital Markets of a global Financial Institution or global consulting firm
• Highly developed analytic and conceptual skills with ability to analyze data and develop key insights
• Specific experience in the area of strategy and financial analysis would be an asset
• Possesses strong interpersonal skills including but not limited to: collaboration, facilitating consensus, resolution management including managing complex and sensitive issues
• Strong project management skills
• Confident in providing strategic insight and advice to senior executives
• Highly organized with a proven ability to manage critical complex projects across many different functional lines
• Proven experience working on and successfully delivering complex projects
