Summary
The Strategic Development Test Lab Director is a key contributor to the organization’s day to day direction and execution of the technology test labs, direct supporting technical teams and indirect enterprise test lab supporting resources.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Build and maintain a high-performing team; select, develop, coach, reward and recognize team members.
• Establish goals and objectives for area which are aligned to the goals and objectives of the IT division and the business areas supported.
• Develop strong relationships with associated business areas in support of the planning and delivery of technology enabled business solutions. Advocate for those business areas across the IT division.
• Direct and manage the work of internal IT staff, consultants and contractors in order to effectively deliver large-scale projects and service solutions.
• Manage, coach and mentor staff. Deliver timely performance feedback and counsel on career and performance development.
• Mange, maintain and leverage technology assets to ensure sustainable business and technical operations.
• Effectively managing operating expenses, capital spending and project budgets associated with areas of accountability.
• In collaboration with Corporate Procurement, engage in vendor management and negotiation activities to ensure effective service delivery and beneficial business terms.
• Develop and maintain appropriate levels of business and technology knowledge necessary to provide effective direction and decision making for the area.
• Be accountable for compliance with IT general controls and risk management procedures associated with the area.
Required Job Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred (Business, IT, Computer Science, Math, Engineering or related field)
• 10+ years business/IT experience in progressively responsible roles
• 5-10+ years of leadership/management experience
• Prior leadership experience in a director level or equivalent role with broad functional accountability
• Demonstrated domain expertise in functional area of responsibility - both business and technology
Essential Requirements:
• Possesses solid knowledge in emerging technologies, and the ability to apply these in the service of the organization’s key business goals
• Demonstrated experience effectively negotiating and building strong technology vendor partnerships, and able to manage multiple vendor relationships to ensure the best performance and financial return
• Comfortable with ambiguity, and handle the unexpected with flexibility
• An entrepreneurial mindset; able and interested to pursue new opportunities
• Demonstrated experience effectively leading large, complex programs with significant change impact, multiple dependencies within and across organizational boundaries
• Notable success leading technology teams and driving initiatives that measurably impact business results or improve business effectiveness.
• Shared services experience supporting multiple functions and LoBs
• Demonstrated experience managing technology areas and implementing solutions that impact and support enterprise architecture
• Ability to solve complex problems; taking new perspective using existing and new solutions
• Solid understanding of theoretical methods, principles and tools through the lens of a practitioner with demonstrated delivery experience
• Ability to quickly evaluate new technologies within the context of existing business problems as well as their potential for application in future business models
• Experience/knowledgeable of technical protocols and standards including hardware, networks, directory services, SSL, virtualization, application containers, physical / logical segmentation and security concepts.
• Financial services experience a plus.
