Job Description
The Portfolio Management Intern will work on a small team of Catastrophe Risk Analysts. As a member of the team, the Intern will support the analysis of Catastrophe perils, reporting on accumulations, and assist in data validation and preparation. The Intern may also work on projects and analyses to help sales and product identify areas for profitable growth.
Responsibilities may include:
• Using catastrophe model to create output for reporting, pricing, predictive analytics, and planning
• Developing tools and models where no industry model is available or appropriate
• Developing and monitoring accumulation metrics
• Participating in the development of quarterly exposure data and assisting in the quality assurance of all exposure data
• Performing peer reviews as assigned and maintaining documentation of work completed such that another member of the team could follow rationale
• Assisting in the monitoring of current developments and alerting underwriting on need and locations for binding restrictions
• Assisting in analytics supporting annual reinsurance placement
• Performing and providing support for annual reporting and filings to State Departments of Insurance and Rating agencies
• Performing exposure assessments on residual markets
• Supporting regulatory rate filings
• Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Completion of sophomore year of Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Meteorology or related field requiring modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis.
• Completion of junior Year and a previous internship, preferred
• Minimum 3.2 GPA, 3.5 preferred
• Experience with simulation tools
• Experience with SQL preferred
• Familiarity with SAS preferred
• Excellent communications skills
• Highly analytical with advanced problem solving skills
• Experience in managing complex data sets
