Job Description Summary
Company Overview:
This position will be with AEGON Asset Management, the organization which oversees asset management for many of Transamerica's insurance and operating companies as well as third party clients. The global AEGON Asset Management organization has operations in Europe, the United States and Asia. Primary offices in the United States are located in Cedar Rapids, IA, Chicago, IL and Baltimore, MD. AEGON Asset Management and Transamerica are both part of the AEGON NV group of companies. The legal entities that comprise AEGON Asset Management US are AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC and AEGON USA Investment Management, LLC. AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC manages commercial real estate, commercial mortgage loans and other real estate related investments. AEGON USA Investment Management, LLC, is a registered investment adviser that manages fixed income assets, including public bonds, private placements, derivatives and alternative investments.
Responsibilities:
• Develop understanding of fundamental credit research
• Provide support to existing credit research team across a range of industries, including, but not limited to, updating financial models and other ad hoc research requests
• Assist in the coverage of smaller holdings, including the analysis of earnings, news, financials, and other relevant information
• Maintain spreadsheets and databases that support the investment process
• Lead projects to further enhance the overall credit research process
• Display increasing ability to work independently, on a sustained regular basis
• Develop and maintain internal and external relationships
• Note: this role does not have primary coverage of companies, but this may occur as the individual’s skill set evolves
Required Qualifications:
• 0-2 years of research experience
• Fluency with Microsoft Excel, Bloomberg, Capital IQ and/or SNL
• Familiarity with financial statement analysis
• Strong communication skills
• BA required
• Preferred Qualifications:
• CFA Charter or working towards
• Familiarity with financial statement analysis
• 2-4 years of investment industry experience
Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of his/her relevant experience and other job related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
