Job Description
Allstate Insuance has an exciting opportunity for a Claims Communication Lead Consultant in Northbrook, IL.
This job is responsible developing, implementing, integrating, leveraging, managing and measuring communication strategies and initiatives for the department. This includes internal and/or external clients aligned with and supporting department business objectives and its corporate reputation strategy. This job leads large projects or portions of large, highly complex, strategic communications projects. This includes developing the content that is available for internal websites, intranet, employee newsletters, brochures, employee handbooks, and materials for employee conferences and seminars This individual coordinates input from various internal stakeholders to provide content on issues that address internal HR and employee communication, change management launches, strategic communication, etc. This individual may review and edit the content of other writers to prepare it for internal communication. This individual also interfaces with senior leadership to identify key areas of communication and may be involved in or provide subject matter expertise for communications needs across various departments or disciplines.
The individual provides mentoring and coaching to the team. The individual works independently, prioritizes the individual's own responsibilities, and manages the individual's own workload. This job will also be used for CAT communications roles who do internal and external communications for catastrophic events.
Strategic Communication
• Creates and manages a strategic communication plan in order to have communications aligned to and based on the business objectives, as well as ensure delivery of key messages and two-way communication with the proper audiences.
• Ensures the integration, consistency of messaging and linkage across the team as well as other Allstate areas of responsibility.
• Provides strategic communication counsel to the client and all departments or business units in order to provide them with the knowledge and direction necessary to communicate appropriately to various audiences.
• Ensures integration of corporate messages into business, department and regional messaging in order to ensure consistency in delivery of key messages.
• Proactively manages and identify risks that have or could have impact on Allstate’s reputation.
• Proactively manages emerging and existing issues that may have an impact on overall business performance and the image of Allstate.
Project Management
• Leads large communications projects or parts of large, highly complex, strategic communications projects that require collaboration with various stakeholders and business leaders
• Collaborates with team members and subject matter experts to establish communications project objectives, timelines, deliverables, and budgets
• Ensures communications projects follow established communications standards
• Interacts periodically with stakeholders throughout the enterprise, including Claims, Technology, Procurement, and Human Resources
Development of Communications Material
• Meets with managers and subject matter experts to understand communication needs
• Develops communication plan identifying audience, key messages, methods, and timing of communication
• Develops and implements policies and communication standards to increase employee awareness and knowledge of activities affecting employees
Develops communication material for internal communication
Job Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in related field preferred (Communications, Public/Corporate Relations)
• Claims background/understanding is a plus
• Expert-level technical writing ability
• Development and writing of internal/external communications
• Strong technical aptitude, including advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and Adobe Pro
• Strong Web/electronic and multimedia communications knowledge
• Experience with social tools (blogs, discussions, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Google +)
