Position Overview:
Primary Purpose
Small, international team of data stewards will focus initially on global investment and client data. The team will be accountable for the delivery of data governance activities including metadata, data policies, and metrics as well as facilitating our governance forums. This role will act as a data analyst and will utilize their business analysis and technical skills to enhance global processes to result in high quality, consistent data across the enterprise.
Primary Purpose

The team will be accountable for the delivery of data governance activities including metadata, data policies, and metrics as well as facilitating our governance forums. This role will act as a data analyst and will utilize their business analysis and technical skills to enhance global processes to result in high quality, consistent data across the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
• Participating as primary business subject matter expert for critical data project(s), mapping data elements, ensuring appropriate metadata is captured, and rules are defined for all critical data elements.
• Act as a conduit with the business on remediation procedures for critical enterprise data
• Facilitating discussions and documenting the future state workflow and processes for the global data operations team as current processes are improved and new processes are created.
• Responsible for understanding the data needs of end state customers and delivery of production solutions for their respective data scope
• Support AAM’s Data Governance Maturity / Growth
• Administer AAM’s Metadata management
• Creation of global data dictionary
• Participation in AAM’s Data Governance Committee & Sub-Committees
• Creation and maintenance of Data Governance metrics & management information
• Developing deep knowledge of each AAM business unit’s strategy, key customers, local regulation / practices
• Understanding and documenting data lineage across the group (sources and destinations of data)
• Recommend ways to align regional Data Governance to AAM Data Governance, including determination of mandatory global standards as distinct from standards that may vary by location
• Propose governance principles and requirements to be communicated throughout AAM
• Perform daily data governance activities
• Stakeholder management from internal and external clients with data definitions and business rules and for ensuring that our standards of data governance support the requirements of current and future clients, including those serviced from multiple locations
• Support a positive work environment and culture that embodies AAM’s core values and behavioural competencies.
• Supporting Change Management in projects that require Data Management subject matter experts
• Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across the Aegon organization including Operational Risk and Compliance
• Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal risk policies and controls by maintaining current knowledge of regulatory requirements, identifying process gaps and risks, and implementing effective processes and controls. Supporting internal operational risk and compliance teams.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree, preferably in Finance or related field.
• 5 years experience in the institutional securities industry with working knowledge of fixed income products and investment processes
• Understanding of regulatory environment for international asset managers and insurers
• Experience and understanding of the technologies that we use to support data management
• Highly developed analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills required
• Ability to work independently, in an international environment, on several assignments simultaneously required
• Ability to network internally and externally and to forge strong relationships in complex organisations
• Disciplined approach and Client centric
• Expert knowledge of desktop tools such as MS Word, Excel, and Access required
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional qualifications are not mandatory but desirable qualifications could be in the areas of Technology or Investment Operations
• An advanced degree and appropriate professional certifications preferred
• 5+ years of asset management data governance preferred
• SQL and MDM tool experience is preferred
• Thorough understanding of databases and/or investment trading systems and processes. Working knowledge of how data flows within the local and global organization preferred
• Process improvement experience, specifically green belt or similar experience is preferred
Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of his/her relevant experience and other job related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
