Description
• Underwrites credit applications for multiple product lines including first and second mortgages, installment loans, home equity lines of credit, (maintains individual pipeline).
• Reviews required documentation based upon origination source, including Automated Underwriting findings, custom/Strata scoring, and/or product profile guidelines.
• Proficient in ACAPS, PBA, On-line rate calculator, and ESS, with good knowledge of UNIFI, REAL EC, and Instant Expert.
• Reviews and analyzes property appraisal including findings from RETS
• Makes sound credit decisions based on corporate underwriting guidelines.
• Communicates with banking offices regarding credit decisions and questions.
• Provide support and direction to internal departments supporting underwriting workflow, (Loan Consultant, Income Review, CDP, Quality Control, etc.).
• Must possess the ability to "think outside of the box", understanding the "big picture" of lending, the need to grow balances and relationships, and understand our low to moderate risk environment at HNB.
• Oversee workflow balance of entire underwriting team and incorporate daily goals to ensure coverage for all queues for completion in timely manner.
• Understanding of exempt work environment, especially during peak volume times.
Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma required.
• 1 or more years of Underwriting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1 or more years of Consumer Lending experience
• Must have extensive knowledge of all standard mortgage loan documents including, but not limited to: appraisals, title reports, income verification, purchase contracts, lease agreements, trusts, warranty deeds, Loan Estimates and closing disclosures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational skills.
• Must understand product profile pricing/criteria in relation to credit decisions.
• Must be able to accurately interpret and apply policy and procedures and be able to proficiently explain to internal partners.
• Must be able to work in a high volume environment with minimal supervision while maintaining all production service levels.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Must be customer-service oriented, with the ability to work in a multi task environment while maintaining a high-level of flexibility.
