Position Description
Morgan Stanley Firm Risk Management Department is seeking a candidate for the Risk Management COO Projects team based in New York to focus as a Project Manager covering Cross-Risk projects. This individual is responsible for the successful planning, execution and control of a portfolio of complex projects across Firm Risk Management, enforcing project governance to align IT projects with business strategy, as well as coordinating Firm Risk and cross-functional initiatives.
Responsibilities
• Manage Cross-Risk projects by ensuring on time delivery and the right level of quality
• Assemble and guide project working groups. Must have strong initiative and confidence to lead workshops and meetings
• Lead discussions to develop and maintain a strategic program roadmap, priorities, project plans and milestones by work-streams
• Coordinate firm wide stress testing activities to ensure timely delivery of stress testing results and drive initiatives to improve efficiencies
• Ensure key risks and issues are identified, documented, mitigated and communicated to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner
• Facilitate requirement gathering sessions with working group, document business requirements, liaise with IT during development
• Act as a liaison and primary communication channel between appropriate Risk domains, Reporting and IT on requirements, issue resolution, status, project execution and prioritization
• Work closely with IT to coordinate testing and signoffs
• Participate in IT sprint planning sessions and facilitate prioritization of backlog items
• Provide pre and post implementation support, including user education
• Manage change control and best practices within project management
• Identify gaps if any in existing reporting and processes and facilitate remediation actions
• Support global teams to maintain their project plans and ensure synergies between global and NY projects
• Support Risk Management COO Projects team senior members in producing senior management and regulatory reporting presentations
Qualifications
Skills Required
• 7–10 years’ work experience in risk management area
• Ability to manage multiple projects utilizing industry standard project management practices
• Risk background (understanding of VaR, Greeks, traded products, stress testing, limit management)
• Experience within a financial institution or Big 4 consultant firm
• Experience in managing all stages of a project lifecycle, including planning, requirements gathering, designing, documenting, testing and rollout
• Strong oral and written presentation skills including graphic illustrations
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of communicating clearly and concisely to various levels of audiences and to both business and IT
• Solid understanding of risk management
• Strong analytical skills and experience in dealing with complex data sets
• Understanding of regulatory requirements
