Job Description
PwC's Financial Instruments, Structured Products and Real Estate Group (Financial Markets) practice, is a global team comprised of financial products experts on virtually all asset classes (including Residential and Commercial Mortgages, Auto Loans and Leases, Credit Cards, Student Loans, Derivatives, Commercial Loans and Bonds, Debt and Equity Securities, etc.).
The team specializes in providing services along the full life cycle of a product, around model governance and validation, accounting advisory, end-to-end transaction support and valuation, business processes and controls, tax and treasury, and capital funding strategies, all as they relate to financial instruments, structured products, and real estate.
The FM practice helps clients achieve success in the capital markets. From navigating complex transactions in new and established products, to treating regulation not simply as a compliance exercise, but as a catalyst for innovation; FM’s deep product knowledge and industry insight helps clients future proof their organizations and to seize the opportunities in the market.
The Financial Instruments, Structured Products and Real Estate Group (‘FSR’) is comprised of subject matter experts focused on providing tax, accounting, finance, reporting, and valuation services to financial market participants.
The FSR tax practice provides clients with specialized tax consulting and compliance expertise to nearly every facet of the financial products market.
We provide these services to most market participants such as commercial banks, investment banks, hedge funds, and private equity funds, mutual funds, insurance companies, REITs and finance companies.
Our practice focuses on the tax structuring and operational aspects of securitization, leasing, distressed debt, corporate debt, REMIC, REIT, fixed income, derivative, and alternative fund markets.
Position/Program Requirements
Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 10
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, provided all of the minimum requirements are met for CPA licensure per respective state regulations
Certification(s) Required: CPA license;
Enrolled Agent or Member of the Bar
Degree Preferred: Master's degree in Tax or Accounting or Juris Doctorate
Knowledge Preferred:
Demonstrates thought-leader level knowledge with tax consulting or compliance functions associated with the Financial Services Industry, which could include a background with partnership and/or corporate taxation, as well as the following areas:
• Alternative investment funds, mortgage REITs, CDO/CLO transactions, REMIC’s, and other securitizations, leasing or derivatives;
• Treasury, banking, finance company, and hedge fund tax operations;
• Utilization of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, and other types of deliverables.
Skills Preferred:
Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts, identifying and addressing client needs: developing and sustaining extensive client relationships using networking, negotiation and persuasion skills to identify and sell potential new service opportunities; preparing and presenting complex written and verbal materials; defining resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing, collection.
Demonstrates extensive intimate abilities and/or a proven record of success as a team leader: leading teams to generate a vision, to establish direction and motivate members, as well as create an atmosphere of trust, leverage diverse views, coach staff, to encourage improvement and innovation.
