RSM is seeking a highly motivated Retirement Plan Advisor to join our growing Des Moines, IA office of RSM US Wealth Management LLC. This Director level role is a critical and integral role that will partner with advisors in RSM’s Central Region to sell and deliver comprehensive retirement plan advisory services to plan sponsors.
Responsibilities include:
• In partnership with advisors, approach current RSM clients to explain and offer retirement plan advisory services.
• Work with advisors to deliver retirement plan advisory services such as:
◦ Comprehensive and consistent fiduciary process (utilizing Retirment Plan Advisory Group [RPAG] fiduciary plan review and other vendor systems and tools)
◦ Benchmarking and RFP services (primarily using RPAG B3 Provider Analysis tool)
◦ Vendor relationship management
◦ Retirement Plan Committee meetings
◦ Participant education meetings
◦ Plan design reviews
• Present retirement plans to potential clients and promote utilization among participants
• Transition participants and assist with account setup process
• Serve as direct point of contact for corporate decision makers
• Responsible for managing ongoing relationship with business
• Create and spearhead business development process including sales strategy, lead generation, prospect management, value proposition/positioning, appointment setting and development of sales collateral
• Meet activity, performance and profit objectives
• Track activity and account progression using CRM tools
• Submit reports as required
• Participate in networking and professional development organizations related to the industry
• Manage the Des Moines retirement plan team
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a financial planning related field (business, tax, finance, or accounting)
• 10+ years’ experience working with group retirement plans (401(k) primarily, but also with cash balance plans, 403(b), 409A, etc.)
• Good communication skills for working with prospects, clients and team members
• Ability to work, efficiently, effectively, and independently in order to see projects through to conclusion
Preferred Qualifications:
• Extensive face-to-face client experience, particularly plan committee meetings, strongly preferred
• Industry designations such as CRPS, QPFC, C(k)P, QPA, QKA, etc., and familiarity with RPAG systems and tools a plus
• Work experience with both servicing and selling retirement plans
• Basic knowledge of income taxes and effects of retirement plans on income taxes
• Basic knowledge of investments
• Advanced experience with Microsoft office
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated client service skills
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and problem solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and assignments
• Self-motivated and possess a sense of urgency
• Strong ethical and professional standards
• Flexibility, adaptability and strong team orientation
• Ability to support the presentation of material to clients and prospective clients as part of a team
