Position Highlights
Has broad experience in own specialty and a range of experience in general actuarial techniques. Uses actuarial concepts to resolve complex issues. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain results. Handles high level assignments and strong actuarial knowledge may be shared with lower level roles. Works with latitude for decisions and may teach/mentor others possessing less experience. Focus on annuities, including Variable ANnuities, Guaranteed LIfteime Withdrawal Benefits, Index Annutiies, etc. Emphasis on understanding and reporting on product landscape to recommend and price product enhancements.
Primary Responsibilities
Product Design, Pricing and Implementation:
1. Creates pricing models, assume responsibility for those models & runs projections.
2. Ensures product lines supported comply with various state and federal regulations.
3. Analyzes sales, expense, persistency and mortality/morbidity experience and ensures that products are self-supporting. Develops and provides management reports for product lines supported.
4. Researches, designs and develops new products in support of company strategy.
Financial Risk Management:
1. Manages interest rate risk, GMWB, and temporary hedging programs in conjunction with department VP.
2. Calculates and communicates the financial impact and projected potential liquidity of hedging programs. Prepares and presents analysis and recommendations to Senior Management and line of business.
Valuation and Corporate Financial:
1. Builds, maintains, and runs complex actuarial models with responsibility for those models and presenting results to management.
2. Ensures valuation complies with actuarial standards and applicable regulations.
3. Monitors and reports on drivers of earnings, including mortality, terminations, expenses, and sales distributions.
4. Performs financial analyses and reports results in support of internal management reporting and external financial and regulatory reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or math/statistics required.
• FSA preferred.
• ASA and MAAA designation required. Qualified to sign in the US.
• Series 6 (within 90 days of hire)
• 6+ years experience in actuarial field
Has developed conceptual and practical expertise in Actuarial area; strong actuarial knowledge that is easily shared with peers.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office including Excel, Access and VBA.
Experience with pricing/ALM software such as MG ALFA or GGY AXIS preferred.
Strong communication skill and the ability to present complex concepts and analysis to all levels including Senior leadership.
Identifies and participates in implementing improvements to products or processes; demonstrates strong work ethic and personal accountability
Builds collaborative and cooperative relationships; balances customer needs with the best interests of the company; effectively manages conflict.
Adjusts to changing events and priorities; displays a positive approach; focuses energy on determining possibilities.
