Serves as the Strategic Financial Partner with Senior Leadership of Enterprise and Shared Services functions to ensure financial rigor is applied that aligns with strategies and execution plans. Leads the development of business finance analytics and data visualization capabilities. Provides direction to the finance functions taking place within the assigned area and works with Corporate Finance to ensure a strong performance management discipline. Develops staff through effective hiring, delegating of work and providing feedback to Analysts through Sr. Managers.
In addition, this individual leads the Business Finance priorities for the following:
• Leadership and development of our data, visualizations and analytics training curriculum
• Coaching and mentoring of business finance staff to build their data, analytics, and visualization capabilities and skillsets
• Tools used by our staff for data visualizations
Job Responsibilities:
• Designs, develops, implements and maintains business solutions including reports, scorecards, dashboards, and analyses using a variety of data and analytic tools to in support of enterprise goals and objectives
• Provides analytics mentoring and training to our business finance staff
• Provides analytics support to staff
• Works directly with clients, project, and business leaders to develop business analytical requirements
• Serves as a key member of the assigned area Leadership Team; Actively participate in strategic and tactical planning, providing a financial perspective; Works with business leaders and potential external partners to identify, plan, and execute strategic profit improvement tactics
• Provides financial and strategic support in various activities such as product development/exit strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, incubator and/or transformational efforts including outsourcing tactics
• Partners with the Finance organization to ensure strong performance management discipline; Collaborate with other Finance functions to ensure consistent and effective decision making
• Provides leadership on cross Finance or cross-organizational projects; Leads/coordinates cross-functional team meetings to facilitate and ensure sharing of information, manage customer expectations, and ensure 'one voice' of finance
• Builds and leads staff to support and drive departmental/corporate goals and strategy
• Develops staff capabilities and cultivates talent for future advancement
• Ensures that the critical success factors which drive the financial models are clearly identified and quantified, and that there are integrated, actionable, and well-documented strategic and tactical plans to support these factors and the resulting planned and forecast financials
• Identifies the need for, and directs the development and maintenance of business and financial models and reports that support the assigned area leaders in improving, planning, and making decisions
• Facilitates the business management process within the assigned area; Manages the business models and plans, focusing on meeting current business and financial expectations; Drives the problem-solving process regarding financial performance variances; Recommends actions to address variances to the assigned area Leadership Team
• Designs/supports programs to strengthen financial literacy within the assigned area
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Financial Discipline; Master’s in Business Administration or other education in business related fields beneficial as indicator of strong skills in business management preferred
• Professional designations such as CPA, CMA, CLU, ChFC, CCUE, or FSA indicating professional competency in financial and insurance related areas
• 4+ years of experience leading teams or providing direction to other resources
• 3+ years of experience in providing executive consultation and influencing business decisions
• 10+ years of work experience in financial management with managerial responsibility for functional activities in the financial services industry; Experience working with sales and revenue models, company financials, product pricing and profitability models and performance measures
• 1+ years of data and/or analytics experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated leadership and ability to get positive results through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations and group facilitation skills
• Strong data visualization and reporting techniques (effective presentation of information)
• Demonstration of effective analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, especially in management and business concepts; Ability to lead and support senior management in strategic planning, analyzing complex problems, long-range financial planning, budgeting and in packaging and structuring, and analyzing information to support decision making
• Demonstrated knowledge and use of project management disciplines and skills
• Proven ability to recruit, retain and develop high-quality individuals
• Ability to adapt in a changing work environment
• Proficient with Financial reporting tools including Business Objects, SAP-BPC and PeopleSoft
• 1+ years of experience with visual analytics tools and techniques (PowerBI, Spotfire, Tableau, SSAS, etc.)
• Extensive knowledge of the financial services industry and product lines
• Position may require the ability to travel up to 20% of the time and make overnight or extended trips as required
