Job Description
The New Product Innovation Senior Manager applies business modeling, technical product knowledge, and market research expertise to gather and define new market approaches for innovative products and services, in order to achieve business objectives, communicate, and provide innovative solutions to business problems.
The New Product Innovation Senior Manager owns the product creation efforts for complex projects and business processes from a “start-up” ownership perspective; Establishes a common understanding of the business environment in which a complex project or solution must be defined, designed, created, deployed, used, and supported. Communication and presentation of new business ideas, models, and value capture plans to C-Level executives is a critical part of the individual’s responsibilities. The combination of deep technical knowledge and business modeling is essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
• Provides expertise for multiple areas of the business through analysis and understanding of business needs, and market research. Applies an advanced knowledge of programs, policies, and procedures in a business area or technical field gained through extensive experience and training
• Represents their area externally in benchmarking and best practice efforts. Provides business expertise to drive business strategies and go to market planning
• Uses appropriate tools and techniques to elicit and define requirements that address the most complex business processes and projects of high complexity
• Provides thought leadership to create or contribute to functional designs, leveraging advanced and/or specialized technical knowledge. Will define features for application prototypes that are important business drivers
• Assists with ideation, proof of concepts, project initiation or planning for projects of high complexity. Work within an agile framework to iterate on the business ideas to achieve customer value proposition for initial minimally viable products
• Leads, plans and consults on information gathering sessions and business framing workshops
Job Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor degree in Science, or Business Technology fields
• Master in Business preferred
• 5+ years working in automotive consulting, or technology company, start-up business experience, or technology product management
• Advanced insurance industry / business knowledge highly desirable.
• Strong teaming skills and leadership of cross functional teams
• Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and written
• Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate with senior leaders
• Creates vision and provides thought leadership for the team. Managers and cross functional team members recognize this person as leader and follow the set direction
• Is considered and expert in product/service development and launch
• Must possess a variety of competencies including proven ability in leading cross-functional teams, project management and follow-through, good communication skills and the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Able to supervise and set direction for the synthesis of consumer insights and impact development and launch strategies
• Strong facilitation skills
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Strong strategic and analytic skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong presentation development and delivery skills
• Experience with a deadline driven environment, requiring minimum supervision
