Description
Within Santanders Global Banking & Markets platform, and as part of US Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), lead a Sector team; Energy, TMT, Consumer, Industrial or Financial Sponsors. As a Sector Head, lead, develop, establish and execute a marketing strategy to deliver the banks global product offering to clients operating in the sector.
• Work effectively and proactively with other departments within the bank such as Legal, Compliance, Middle Office, and Credit/Risk.
• Coordinate with relationship management counterparts in Santanders global network (Latin America, Europe and Asia) to support origination and execution of deals.
• Develop and implement individual client business plans; maintain the business pipeline; create annual budgets, with the expectation of achieving or exceeding financial targets.
• Coordinate with product specialists (Credit Markets, Global Transaction Banking, Rates, Equity, Debt Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions) in the US and globally where the bank conducts corporate and investment banking business.
• Manage Energy team members, including senior banker client coverage and junior banker support staff. Mentor junior team members to foster environment of career growth and opportunity.
• Responsible for coordinating all aspects of deals booked in the US.
• Responsibilities include presentation to Risk (with Product), negotiating, closing, and subsequent monitoring. Initiate, develop and enhance relationships with senior financial, strategic and management executives at existing clients and targeted prospects, with the objective of enhancing revenue generation and risk-adjusted return on capital for the bank.
Qualifications
• At least 15+ years of relevant sector experience in corporate & investment banking and/or principal investment, with experience managing teams.
• Ability to react to change effectively and manage through challenges, while remaining focused on delivering financial results.
• Demonstration of sector expertise.
• Experience with all parts of the capital structure, including senior and mezzanine debt, preferred and common equity.
• Experience with corporate banking products including lending, treasury management, transactional banking, equity and debt capital markets and M&A.
• Extensive network of senior executive relationships.
• Proven and verifiable track record of transactions closed.
