Responsibilities
We are seeking a Vice President to join the Power Opportunities Group, also known as the GFI Energy Group. GFI targets control private equity investments in mid-sized power and energy businesses. The Group manages approximately $1.8 billion in assets and is currently investing its $1.1 billion Power Opportunities Fund IV, L.P. This individual will work in the Brentwood, CA office, where the GFI team is based.
As a member of small deal teams, responsibilities will include the following:
• Involvement with all aspects of the investment process
• Conducting industry research and identifying sector trends and themes
• Sourcing investment opportunities by networking with intermediaries, industry executives and directly with target companies
• Performing business, accounting and legal due diligence
• Evaluating, negotiating and structuring term sheets, purchase documentation, financing commitments, management agreements and related documentation
• Interacting with portfolio company management teams, boards of directors and outside advisors to help drive value creation and report on their performance
• Managing relationships with accounting and tax professionals, attorneys, consultants, advisers and bankers
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years investment experience with a top-tier private equity firm and/or investment bank
• Some knowledge or experience in energy or closely-related industry strongly preferred
• Demonstrated competency in all aspects of investment opportunity execution including: analysis, due diligence, company valuations, preparing investment memorandums; exposure to negotiations, structuring, funding and closing deals strongly preferred
• Exceptional skills in analyzing investment opportunities, market information and financial statements.
• Proven ability to understand complex deal structures

Education
Bachelor’s degree with honors from a top university or college. MBA preferred but not required.
