Job Description Summary
Directs the planning and participates in the management of enterprise and divisional project initiatives that directly impact financial reporting. Seeks and develops strong partnerships with management, divisional clients, IT resources and outside vendors. Assess and prioritize projects and recommend strategies and tactics to satisfy customer needs.
• Supports modernization and transformational strategic initiatives
• Ensures operating model of people, systems and processes stays current and adapts to change effectively and efficiently
• Oversee the enterprise planning, design development, enhancement and maintenance of financial systems across Transamerica.
• Provides direction to the department in order to effectively use all resources and provide quality financial systems services to end customers.
• Manages and directs a team of business analysts and is responsible for team development, performance monitoring and appraisal, and prioritization of projects
• Maintains an understanding of the overall business of the various divisions/company in order to support new and existing finance and accounting reporting requirements and to facilitate financial system support.
• Reviews, on a consistent basis, existing processes and financial reporting tools, specifically use of cubes, databases and business intelligence tools, across the company. Identifies best practices and makes recommendations on process improvements. Achieves consensus and support across divisions to implement the defined processes and tools.
• Understands and promotes systems life cycle methodologies, project management techniques, quality assurance and testing methodologies and enterprise architecture principles. Ensures appropriate documentation of financial systems and applications
• Develops strong partnerships, manages stakeholders and their respective expectations to ensure expectations are met.
• Supports and manages transition activities to ensure seamless transition.
• Other duties as assigned based on divisional needs.
• Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
• Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management or Computer Science.
• Demonstrated management/leadership experience and project management skills.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting and financial system functionality, financial reporting and data management.
• Minimum of 10 years accounting/system experience and 7 years management experience.
Preferred qualifications
• Strong leadership, decision making and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Anticipates future needs/challenges (visionary).
