This position will be with AEGON Asset Management, the organization which oversees asset management for many of Transamerica's insurance and operating companies as well as third party clients. AEGONUSA Investment Management, LLC, is a registered investment adviser that manages fixed income assets, including public bonds, private placements, derivatives and alternative investments.
Position Overview: The position will support the Aegon Asset Management Operations Audit and Risk Team in completing audit requests or documentation requirements, fielding auditor or business questions, and helping assess the overall control environment within business processes. Activities will support all Client types.
Responsibilities:
• Effectively act as audit liaison between external/internal audit and risk teams and the operational business units.
• Research and respond timely to various audit questions.
• Manage Risk Control Matrixes (RCMs), SIPOCs (Supplier, Input, Process, Output, Consumers Process Map) and Auditor Walkthrough Memos
• Work in team environment to gather and provide all audit request information for type 1 Service Organizational Control, Sarbanes-Oxley, consolidated and standalone financial and non-affiliated audits. Work with Compliance Department or Transamerica for Security and Exchange reviews, Insurance Exams and Management Testing.
• Lead all Operational Walkthroughs efficiently and effectively – Communicating expectations to all operational areas around controls that will be discussed, updating all audit documentation prior to discussions, gathering and saving all information for auditors to SharePoint, setting up meetings, ensuring controls are adequately covered to avoid questions later.
• Work closely with Transamerica and Operational Risk Management (ORM) group to understand their needs for audit support related to Management Testing.
• Obtain an in depth understanding of what the business unit’s processes and controls are to assist in continually identifying and managing risk and adhering to the company’s framework of internal controls.
• Provide annual control awareness training to various departments.
• Support regulatory reviews, questionnaires and certification programs.
• Work with various internal control groups to maintain up-to-date control documentation and testing plans.
• Monitor and escalate questions that raise a potential concern around risk issues.
• Support all AAM Operations groups when processes change to ensure adequate controls and segregation of duties stay intact.
• Work on projects for new products and processes. Identify, write new or update controls on RCMs as needed.
• Work with business owners to identify efficiency gains or improved controls when opportunities are observed.
• Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.
Intermediate Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent education/experience. Minimum of two years of experience, with degree.
Senior Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent education/experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience, with degree.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years audit experience, with degree.
Solid knowledge of mortgage loan and securities investment accounting and audit areas preferred. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, ability to handle multiple projects, willingness to take on new projects, ability to problem solve quickly and have customer service focused approach. Work effectively individually and within a team, organizational and prioritization skills, effective judgment.
