Zurich American Insurance Company (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to serve as point of contact for North America business leaders in Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Services, Government & Industry Affairs, Strategy, Innovation, and Business Development Department, responsible for all areas of Human Resources (HR).
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner will also serve as operational lead for the Registered Apprenticeship Program of Zurich North America, aimed at building a talent pipeline of highly-skilled employees with industry credentials.
The Senior Human Resource Business Partner will provide advice on a full range of HR and people strategy issues and initiatives, and partner with respective members of the leadership teams to determine the human capital requirements to deliver the business strategy and achieve shared organizational objectives. Key accountabilities include performance management; compensation; coaching; organizational structure design; talent assessment, training and development; recruitment and retention; and change management. Specific responsibilities include: serving as an overall HR partner to the assigned regional client group in the US and Canada and as the primary contact for management; identifying the strategic talent needs of the business to deliver long-term goals and working with the Senior Executives and Leadership Team to put in place plans and programs to meet those needs; coaching and guiding managers with employee problem diagnosis and performance issues; counseling, guiding and supporting managers on the planning and implementation for effective performance management, succession planning, compensation and talent development; leading and participating on project teams on business unit and client group issues such as organizational design, work process design and business strategy and goal setting; consulting with managers on significant employee relations issues and following through until resolved; addressing employee trends that require HR involvement; identifying compliance issues/legal regulations and serving as a liaison between local management and corporate office to address situations appropriately. Position requires occasional travel within the U.S. and Canada.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Psychology, Human Resources, or related field of study, plus at least 6 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Senior Performance Manager and Compensation Consultant, or similar human resources position. Experience must include at least 3 years of experience in Learning & Development, leading the design, development and rollout of learning solutions (Instructor Led Trainings and E-Learnings) at a global or national level. Experience must also include working: with human resources within a global insurance company; with advising global leadership team members (N-1 to CEO) on HR actions; in a Learning and Development leadership team role; with global talent acquisition; with global talent management; with global performance management and compensation management; with HR consulting and problem diagnosis such as change management, human capital planning, and employee relations; with basic organizational team diagnosis and development; with handling general employee relations and investigations; and with partnering and building credibility with management through collaboration. Must be willing to travel occasionally within the U.S. and Canada.
