Position summary:
This career opportunity provides new-to-insurance industry professionals with the comprehensive job skills and development training necessary to launch a career in property and casualty underwriting within our Personal Lines department. This position will provide the PL Underwriting Trainee with the comprehensive job skills and leadership development training necessary to enhance their marketing, sales, financial, analytical, and project management skills.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
•Underwrite risk information to determine risk acceptability and communicate resulting decisions to agents
•Develop agency partnerships and agency management skills
•Ensure agents understand the business market direction, underwriting standards and new business risk profile to generate a flow of quality new business submissions and retention business
•Seek out new opportunities with existing agents as well as new agency appointments
•Analyze financial information to determine performance, identify business trends and recommend process improvements
•Manage agents in designated territory to ensure that targets for new business, renewal retention, loss ratio, and mix of business are achieved
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree with a GPA 3.0 or higher
• Legal right to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to multi-task and adapt to new situations quickly
•Strong relationship management mind-set
•Robust experience in working with teams and/or external groups/vendors
•A high degree of self-motivation
•An entrepreneurial appetite
•Marketing and sales orientation
•Financial management and mathematical reasoning
•Consultative skills
