JOB:
Morgan Stanley Services Group Inc. seeks a Vice President in New York, New York to:
Work as a software developer to implement new features and troubleshoot production issues with existing software. Focus on a high profile, real-time trading system responsible for trading baskets of stocks and exchange-traded funds that executes a significant amount of flow for the Firm. Work with a complex system comprised of C++ applications running on Linux, with C# and front ends running on trader workstations. Responsible for coordinating, deploying, and supporting changes to the production environment, in collaboration with trading and desk support staff. Utilize C++, Linux, Python scripting, and database development skills to provide technology solutions for automating trader workflows, increasing efficiency and reliability, and ultimately providing a competitive edge to the Firm and its clients. Work under tight deadlines to quickly debug, resolve or provide workarounds for production problems, design new trading strategies, features, and functionalities, and arrange the production plant.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study and five (5) years of experience in the position offered or as a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Software Developer, Programmer, or related occupation. The employer will accept two (2) additional years of experience in the position offered or as a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Software Developer, Programmer, or related occupation (seven (7) years total experience) in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience. The position requires any amount of experience with the following required skills: experience with Perl, C, and C++ programming, build systems, source control management, and debugging tools; experience in the financial industry and with equity markets, market data vendors, and distribution systems; experience with algorithmic trading strategies used for trading large volumes of securities with minimal market impact; experience with equity index and exchange traded fund composition methodologies and vendors; and experience with Linux systems used for mission critical applications.
