The Head of Wholesale and Correspondent Lending is responsible for the overall business performance, strategy and financial returns of the wholesale and correspondent lending businesses at MUFG Union Bank. For the Wholesale Lending Business, primary responsibilities include leading a team of account executives to deliver on near term production and ROE targets, grow and expand non-CA loan volume and develop a strategic plan for the business that takes into account competitive and industry trends.
Major Responsibilities:
35% Wholesale Lending Sales Management
• Lead the wholesale account executive team across their assigned regions to deliver the required level of production at the required ROE and other business objectives required from the wholesale channel
• Recruit, coach and retain high performing account executives to achieve business objectives at the broker and regional level
• Optimize broker network to manage risk and volume objectives at the broker level
35% Wholesale Lending Strategy Development and Execution
• Develop, maintain and execute on wholesale lending strategy and market expansion plan
• Maintain and develop wholesale channel strategic plan through analyses of current business performance, wholesale lending competitor strategies, and structural industry changes and trends.
• Develop and execute a market expansion strategy to drive incremental loan volume outside of CA
30% Correspondent Lending Strategy
• Develop correspondent lending strategy that will provide the desired loan mix, financial returns and risk profile
• Identify and quantify required resources, platforms, regional strategy, expected production levels and returns required for initial market entry strategy and longer term expansion
• Identify opportunities to leverage existing wholesale lending resources and relationships and how the wholesale and correspondent businesses will successfully interoperate
• Work with functions from across the organization to develop plan (Finance, risk, operations, legal, risk and compliance) to enhance overall strategy approach, risks and opportunities
Qualifications
Education, Licensure, Year of Experience (and type of work experience):
• Bachelors’ degree required
• MBA preferred, but not required
• 15+ years’ experience leading correspondent and wholesale lending businesses
• Strategic planning and business strategy development experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to lead cross-functional teams to expand and launch existing and new business lines
• Deep knowledge of all functions required to run a successful wholesale and correspondent lending business including sales, finance, credit risk, and operations
• Extensive professional network of wholesale and correspondent industry participants and influencers
• In-depth knowledge of regulations governing the wholesale and correspondent lending businesses
