As a member of Santander’s retail banking division you’ll help serve Santander’s retail and small business customers as part of one of the top banks in the United States based on deposits. With principal presence in the northeast U.S., Santander’s retail division offers consumer and lending products to help our customers reach their financial goals. Santander currently serves nearly 2 million retail customers and 5.2% of the 2.7 million small businesses in the US footprint have a transactional account with Santander Bank.
Responsibilities:
The Portfolio Manager I role is responsible for the credit management of Business Banking customers with annual company revenues of $3-25 million and with credit exposure of moderate size and complexity. In this role, the incumbent will work closely with the Relationship Manager and Credit Risk areas to ensure Business Banking meets its responsibilities around a robust credit risk management process. The Portfolio Manager I also delivers an optimal customer experience via timely and proactive management of credit renewal and monitoring processes, including proactive client communication and follow-up.
• Maintains LQAS database for timely updating requirements, receipt of financials, and testing of covenants/conditions Maintains credit files in accordance with Bank policy for RDU relationships
• Reviews Relationship Manager submission of new origination requests an ensure complete packages Support Relationship Manager in KYC/AML/CIP and general compliance requirements
• Identify cross-sell opportunities in the portfolio and refer to the proper sales channel to fulfill
• Actively manages portfolios of credit clients for financial submission, alerts, delinquencies, FEVE meetings, Watch meetings, and other monitoring events including executing defined processes around monitoring required by credit structures
• Monitor upcoming credit maturities and renewals, and ensure timely response by Credit Risk and Relationship Managers
• Ensures all required financial and due diligence information is available for timely credit underwriting and actions
Qualifications
• Business Banking underwriting, portfolio or Relationship Management experience
• Strong financial analysis skills with a focus in credit underwriting
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years specialized knowledge
• Able to work in a team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Prior credit and portfolio experience
• Proficient with the MS office package
