Role Value Proposition:
Responsible for the management oversight of multiple business functions and ongoing operations in support of the Life and Income Funding Solutions businesses (LIFS). The role has direct responsibility to support certain aspects of the Post Retirement Benefit (PRB) and the Corporate Owned Life Insurance (COLI/BOLI) businesses. The role will manage a business liaison team to facilitate contract development and issuance (PRB and COLI/BOLI) and case implementation/servicing.
The Manager will be responsible for determining and coordinating the resources among constituent projects and stakeholder management of those initiatives. Individual will be the liaison between LIFS and RIS Contracts, Group Implementation, Legal, and Post Retirement Benefit and Corporate Owned Life Insurance businesses. Critical to the success of the role is the individual’s ability to manage and develop talent and influence and lead within a matrix organization.
Key Responsibilities:
People Management
• Manage team of 4 associates with full people management responsibilities including development and performance management
• Prioritization of work flow
PRB Implementation/Servicing
• Lead team responsible for PRB case implementation and inforce case servicing
• Partner with PRB Sales and Product Management
• Collaborate with group implementation teams, call center and claims areas in support of PRB products
Business Oversight
• Proactively build a control and risk mitigation environment including programs and procedures to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.
• Identify and drive process improvement initiatives to reduce risk and enhance controls within LIFS
• Lead team which partners with Tax, Insurance, SEC and Investment counsel to ensure compliance with multiple regulatory bodies (i.e. SEC, NASD, State Insurance Regulators) and develop new procedures, disclosures and contractual changes for implementation across PRB and COLI/BOLI
• Facilitate all product Contract initiatives including coordination of actuarial, product management, legal, client servicing, filings, sales/marketing, fund management, Group contract and Individual Contracts
• Business liaison to RIS and Individual Contracts teams on state, separate account and policy form filings for COLI/BOLI and PRB business
• Responsible for maintenance of private placement product disclosures, including PPOM updates, separate account offerings, qualified purchaser questionnaires and solicitation guidelines
• Responsible for managing and tracking private placement policy and disclosure issuance and amendments. Ensure consistency, accuracy, legal and regulatory compliance and quality measures are adhered to across all private placement offerings within LIFS.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
• 7+ years of experience with strong business acumen and management experience
• Strong contract and compliance knowledge within life insurance. Subject matter expert in Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) and/or FAS 106 liabilities, variable life insurance, and private placement insurance products desired
• Demonstrated knowledge in Group and Individual Insurance products including experience in contracts and client management.
• Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills. The position works closely with clients, industry leaders and MetLife partners. Candidate must be comfortable presenting information to both small/large audiences.
• Skilled project manager with keen attention to detail
• Strong knowledge or ability to quickly learn MetLife's PRB and COLI/BOLI product features and systems.
• Knowledgeable in Securities and Insurance Laws related to insurance contracts for both Private Placement and Registered Variable Life Products.
• Excellent organizational, strategic thinking and analytical skills.
• Strong verbal and technical written communication skills.
• Must be driver that is able to deliver results and develop plans that achieve goals that are critical to business and financial targets
