ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for spreading financial statements, preparing statement analysis and covenant checks in support of the commercial lending function.
• In addition, the Commercial Underwriter III (CUW-III) will be responsible for preparing basis and comprehensive credit analyses on commercial loans that facilitates the credit approval process, with minimal supervision by Underwriting Manager (UWM). In so doing, the CUW-III will develop a thorough understanding of various types of lending facilities as well as a variety of companies and industries.
• UWM to provide production goals based upon needed level of supervision and complexity of deal flow.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - COMMERCIAL LOAN ORIGINATION PROCESSES
• Spread financial statements as provided by Commercial Relationship Manager (CRM)
• Prepare Loss Given Default and Probability of Default models for new and renew opportunities
• Prepare Risk Adjusted Return on Capital Model for new and renew opportunities
• Maintain responsibility for completion of the Commercial Credit Application once engaged by CRM, and after receipt of Opportunity Memo explaining the request.
• Maintain responsibility for completion of the Commercial Credit Memo (approved template to be used) once engaged by CRM, and after receipt of Opportunity Memo explaining the request. Key items:
◦ Work directly with the RM to ensure accurate reflection of financials
◦ Work directly with the RM to ensure accurate preparation of Loss Given Default, Probability of Default and Risk Adjusted Return on Capital models at time of new/renew requests.
◦ Ensure accurate reflection of lending matrix authority
◦ Ensure coding
◦ Ensure recognition of Policy Exceptions.
• Participate in deal team meetings between Relationship Manager, Market President and Senior Credit Officer as required.
• Provide editing to document as dictated by acceptance of term sheet and results of deal team meetings.
• Participate in credit decision with Market President, Senior Credit Officer, Executive Credit Officer and Chief Operations Officer.
• Finalize credit package with conditions precedent as needed to ensure Loan Closing has a complete approval package.
Commercial Underwriters are to adhere to Service Level Agreements as outlined in Workflow Procedures.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
• Prepare and/or review (if prepared by centralized spreading team) spreads for commercial relationships upon receipt based upon requirements of Loan Agreement.
• Prepare financial analysis of spreads.
• Prepare covenant checks as required by Loan Agreement
• Follow procedures to ensure that the system of record (Loan Quality Assurance System) is documented with the reviewed items and forwarded for signature to CRM.
• Identify portfolio weaknesses and trends and alert CRM and UW Manager to deteriorating portfolio conditions
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Although no direct supervision of employees is required, the individual will be an experienced member of the team and will be expected to provide training, coaching and mentoring to the less experienced members of the team (ie, CUW-I)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and 5+ years related experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER AND OFFICE EQUIPMENT SKILLS
Spreadsheet software (ex. MS Excel), Word Processing Software (ex. MS Word), facsimile machine, Copier/Scanner, Hewlett Packard 12 C Calculator (or equivalent), Financial Spreading Software.
