A Payment Specialist in the Wires Department will be responsible for sending or receiving payment instructions. They will ensure that all outgoing wire transfers are in accordance with the Wire Transfer Policy and International Paying and Receiving procedures. They must be able to perform functions within the department with a high level of accuracy. These functions include foreign exchange trades via SWIFT, check collection with foreign banks, incoming/outgoing wire transfers and banknote orders for commercial customers. Processing of payment orders include various customer service functions such as providing accurate and timely resolutions to problems and general inquires, end-of-day balancing, various reconciliations, handling system problems and recovery tasks. The Payment Specialist will routinely interact with personnel across markets.
Incumbent must understand risk associated with all functions and the internal controls in place to mitigate this risk. This position requires a good working knowledge of SWIFT formatting and other government regulations to ensure compliance. This position must understand the expectations outlined in a customer SLA and understand the consequences of errors.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday
Education: College Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
Work experience: Prefer 2-4 years in related field
Required Skills: Strong overall PC skills, analytical and critical thinking skills, communication skills, exception handling, research, decision making skills within the scope of authority, train other staff members on International functions, cross-train on all functions in the department, ability to prioritize job duties in order to meet critical deadlines.
