Sell investment products over the telephone through one or more of the following intermediaries: brokerage firms, financial advisors/brokers, banks, and insurance companies. Initiates and/or follows up on sales calls, provides intermediaries with sales ideas, answers product and service questions, provides performance data, identifies new sales opportunities and helps launch new products.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Initiates outbound sales telephone calls to clients and prospective clients to position, promote and sell Janus products and to communicate company updates. Utilizes knowledge of company products in an effort to develop business. (45%)
• Answers inbound calls to our advisor line to respond to inquiries, provide answers, support needs and identify selling opportunities and pass on to appropriate territory team. (5%)
• Proactively follows up with clients and prospective clients to provide sales ideas, answers product questions, provide performance data, identify new sales opportunities, and help launch new products. (20%)
• Uses client relationship management (CRM) database software applications and other departmental databases to track client interactions and the progression of each client relationship. (5%)
• Supports sales and client relationships by providing research material and administrative follow-up and support. (10%)
• Generates sales ideas, identifies new sales opportunities. (5%)
• Travels with external wholesaler in the field on a limited basis for territory familiarity and professional development. (5%)
• Attends and supports client events or conferences as a Janus representative. (5%)

Technical Skills and Qualifications
• Knowledge of mutual fund/financial industry products and services in order to promote and sell company mutual fund products, and to respond to client inquiries, provide answers, and to identify selling opportunities.
• Ability to initiate outbound sales telephone calls to clients provide sales ideas, answers product questions, provide performance data, identify new sales opportunities, and help launch new products.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to develop strategic business relationships.
• Janus product knowledge is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work with little supervision.
• Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and ability to use client relationship management (CRM) database software applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• This knowledge and these skills are normally acquired through B.S. or B.A. in related field, approximately two years of related experience and/or training in a client support or internal sales role and two years of experience in the mutual fund/financial services industry and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
• Series 7 and 63 licenses required within 30 days of hire.
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:
• Annual Performance Appraisal
• Completion of all assigned Compliance training
Working Environment/Physical Activities
• Overtime may be required on short notice and may include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
• Typical office environment with telephone, copier, fax machine, etc.
• PC usage up to 90%.
• Telephone usage up to 100% of the time.
Occasional travel may be required.
