This role sits within the Field Strategic Services (FSS) group, which focuses on transformational platform strategies to give Financial Advisors (FAs) and their support staff better tools to serve our clients. The Strategic Client Onboarding (SCO) team within FSS is recruiting a strategic thinker who has a passion for uncovering new opportunities and executing projects to continuously improve business.
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management is shifting to a data model that puts clients at the center of all aspects of management – from onboarding to portfolio management. The Executive Director of Onboarding Strategy will manage execution of the data strategy and partner with executives across the firm to leverage the new data model for key business processes. The ED will be responsible for managing multiple VP level direct reports.
Responsibilities:
• Manage team of 3-5 employees of varying levels
• Understand client data model and firm’s shift to Goals-Based Wealth
Management and its application to the Client Onboarding space and the
processes/applications we own.
• Partner with business areas across the firm, including, but not limited to:
advisory/managed, compensation, advisor platform, banking, and lending to
define opportunities for integration with the new data model and shifting the
business to look at the holistic client rather than groups of accounts
• Be able to communicate complex details of the model and how it is being
leveraged across firm to a senior audience
• Develop meaningful solutions to critical business issues and to enhance the
platform by analyzing user feedback and metrics and collaborating with
partners across the organization
• Develop strategic business requirements to achieve strategic solutions,
building solution consensus between business partners, operations, UX, IT,
legal, compliance, and risk
• Facilitate interviews and focus groups with end users to understand business
processes and connect-the-dots to other work going on in the space
• Manage testing completion in coordination with team leads, review testing
plans, defects, requirement clarifications, and completion reports to ensure a
smooth implementation of enhancements to the account opening and
maintenance platform
• Resolve escalations from senior management, the Service Center, Business
Partners, and FAs/CSAs daily
• Simplify complex technical systems into visual process flows, tables, and
PowerPoint presentations
• Assist with meeting preparation and facilitation
• Travel may be required when practicable in an effort to support various update
rollouts
• Weekend work may be required when new technology functionality is released
Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry or 5+years with a
concentration in financial planning or account opening
• Proven and effective people manager
• Detail-Oriented
• Thrives in a highly visible, intense work environment
• Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record required
• Consulting experience preferred
• Self-starter with exceptional project management skills and ability to work both
independently and in a group to drive project to completion
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities with competing deadlines in a fast-paced
environment required
• Strong analytical capabilities and problem solving skills required
• Must be able to effectively communicate in both business and technical
contexts
• Strong analytical, process-oriented, problem-solving/issues-resolution skills
required
• Ability to work well with employees across a diverse range of functional groups
required
• Must be able to assume a high level of autonomy quickly
• Must have ability to build consensus across teams
• Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills required
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required
• Working knowledge of Visio and Project a plus
• Familiarity with digital collaboration tools a plus
