Senior Vice President, Commercial, Payment Gateway Services, Americas
OVERVIEW
Working within the Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS) structure and being a member of the MPGS “management Committee”, the SVP Payment Gateway Services is responsible for the general management of the service from a customer and employee perspective and is accountable for the MPGS business proposition with regional partners (Acquirers, Merchants and Merchant aggregators).
The SVP Payment Gateway Services, as a leader in the business, has the accountability for the business objectives and will define the regional strategic direction, together with the MPGS and NAM leadership.
ROLE
The Senior Vice President will have a proven track record of leading and executing on product strategy to align to market demand and strategic goals. S/he will have an impressive track record of outstanding leadership and execution. More specifically, the ideal candidate will:
• Be responsible for the profit and loss ("P+L") of the MPGS business in NAM; accountable for financial compliance and maintenance of acceptable audit standards.
• Lead his/her team to provide expert support to the Account Management and Business Development teams in articulating product value propositions and the solutions to deliver this to C level representatives in new and existing customers
• Working with the sales organization, provide expert level consulting to key customers across all segments (including white label partnerships with acquirers and merchant integrators) to identify new business opportunities through a detailed understanding of the customer’s business objectives and technology infrastructure
• Lead his/her team, in partnership with the global product team in the preparation of new product requirement documentation and provide expert input to the development of payment solutions that encompass the voice of North American customers
• As a member of the global gateway management team, provide expert input into the business strategy and go to market plans
• Nurture critical relationships across regions and functions to ensure strong team cohesion and the alignment with the global and regional product strategies
• Leads the provision of market intelligence to the product management team to support product design, development and implementation efforts
• Represent the region in the product development release planning and prioritization process
• Bring the voice of the market and help identify product innovation opportunities with development and product teams to ensure customer needs are met and roadmap development is aligned to market requirements
• Oversee MPGS specific training and product demonstrations to internal teams, customers and distribution partners covering product functionality, including updating materials for new version releases
• Be responsible for all employees working in his/her team,
◦ Monitors overall employee performance against objectives and pursues corrective measures with the appropriate management, as required.
◦ Ensures appropriate deployment of company policies, procedures and processes within his distributed team.
◦ Exercises sound financial management; implement and monitor internal controls in the country operations.
ALL ABOUT YOU
• Have ten plus years of experience in product management and/or solution engineering roles with an expertise in payments (gateway solutions/acquiring).
• Able to pivot easily between macro to micro issues. Able to execute against multiple initiatives and excel in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
• Decisive and results driven, with high energy levels and initiative.
• Be a creative leader skilled in ideation through to commercialization; able to adapt the product offering to meet localized markets globally.
• Be trained in product management methodologies and will be strong technically as the manager will be required to communicate with product managers, technical architects, business analysists and engineers to deliver new solutions
• Have deep domain knowledge of payments
• Be a seasoned collaborator, good listener, and able to navigate a matrixed organization. Be able to navigate ambiguity with ease.
• A conceptual thinker with the vision to see issues strategically. Have critical thinking skills, be intellectually curious, and has significant cognitive capability
• Be well-informed of emerging trends and market disruptors that will impact the business. Be innovation-oriented and capable of generating new ideas to explore. Viewed as a visionary and able to clearly communicate the future for the business.
• Demonstrate courage to challenge the status quo. S/he is decisive yet inclusive. Their demeanour is consistently viewed as respectful and collaborative. They are comfortable sharing credit with others.
• Have an engaging style that helps build collaboration internally and is able to deliver results through influence. Be able to navigate ambiguity with ease.
• Extensive payments industry experience with a detailed understanding of credit/debit payment processing and associated merchant payment technologies
• Have outstanding resiliency. Work well under pressure and learn from both successes and failures. Act as a stabilizing force in times of adversity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with the maturity and cultural sensitivity to achieve credibility at all levels (internally / externally), including the ability to influence senior bankers. Proficient in English.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
